compressor power/control

Our team is using a closed pneumatic system this year, and not including a compressor to save on space.

My question is, does the offboard compressor have to be powered and controlled, or just controlled by the robot when filling the tanks?

I know that questions similar to mine have been answered, but I want to make sure that what we think on this is correct before trying to continue on.

Thanks!
