Taking a shot...

We spent some time tonight calibrating our shooter, and I have to say... we're all pretty happy with the results! We made it without touching top or bottom from less than 5ft away from the wall, all the way out to almost 20 ft away!

This is our max distance shot, about 20 ft away :)

Oh, and we're as close to 100% consistent as you can get - 4 shots in a row from the same location went right in the same spot!

Nice! Did you guys have to change the shot at all when you moved back from 5ft? In other words how big is your sweet spot?

Nope, no changes required - 5-20 ft is the sweet spot!

Wow. And it looks like that would be a pretty good truss shot as well.

Have you tried shooting with balls blown u to different sizes? How much does the compression of the ball affect the shot?

No, we haven't tried that yet - the ball we were using should be about right, as we filled it up per FIRST's published instructions. We'll probably get plenty of that this weekend though... we're attending two week zero events :)

Unfortunately, FIRST's published instructions are not always what ends up getting followed. For Logomotion the tubes were inflated different at different competitions and some teams had issues picking them up because of this. It might be something you want to try prior to this weekend. We had to adjust our pickup mechanism because the one ball we blew up was smaller than the other ball we had been using and it caused us issues.
