Stop Build Day

I don’t know about you, but when I think ‘Stop Build Day’, I think Shakespeare’s ‘Henry V’.

Here’s the scene. King Henry of England is preparing for what will come to be known as the Battle of Agincourt against the French, in which his army is outnumbered five to one. He rallies his troops with a rousing speech, part of which goes like this:
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,

But he’ll remember, with advantages,

What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,

Familiar in his mouth as household words-

Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter,

Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester-

Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red.

This story shall the good man teach his son;

And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,

From this day to the ending of the world,

But we in it shall be remembered-

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
Substitute ‘Stop Build Day’ for ‘Crispin Crispian’ (a holiday), get rid of the sexist language, and it fits right in.

Work hard, have fun, make some memories, but whatever else you do, stay safe!

More Weather. Again!

Weather. X[

We recognize that some teams, in the Midwest and Northeast particularly, won’t be able to access their robots today because of school closures. As I have said before, we won’t be extending Stop Build Day because of weather. However, if teams are not able to access their robot today for bagging, they will be able to bag late without penalty. This does not mean they can perform more work on their robot after midnight Stop Build Day. It only means they can take their robot, as it was on midnight of Stop Build Day, and put it in the bag after that time, without performing any additional work. Be sure to note on your Robot Lock-Up Form the reason for the late bag closure.

Good luck to all teams today!

Frank

The irony for us is... last year we were snowed out for Stop Build Day (and couldn't get to the school), but this year it will almost be above freezing. Anyway, we followed the same procedure and it all worked out.

Once more into the breach, dear friends, once more! Or close up the wall with our English dead!
