That's right. We have been finalists at the LA Regional 4 (!) times - in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012. We won a regional in Los Angeles back in 2001, but at that time it was called the "Southern California" Regional, so this is indeed our first win of the "Los Angeles" Regional.

Interesting statistic: we were in the finals those 4 times with many of the same teams as we were in the finals with in 2014, on both sides. Not counting this year: 4x 1717 (1x with, 3x against), 2x 330 (both against), 2x 980 (1x with, 1x against), and 2x 973 (1x with, 1x against)! So lots of familiar faces!

Such great teams I really enjoyed watching these teams go at it in the finals. Team 2584 salutes and congratulates everyone, you were all very impressive.

While you look forward to St. Louis, we are looking forward to facing off with and against everybody at the Fall Classic.

I have a ton of photos from the Finals matches if anyone's interested, including those of 294 and 1717. A few examples:

The same thing happened in Q109, we thought due to a hard hit causing an unintended manual breaker shutoff, but after it happened again in F2 we replaced the breaker (thank you FIRST spare parts desk!). We plan to do some testing of the old breaker back in our lab to confirm it was indeed the root cause.

You also stopped in Q89, same problem?

Also, the matches played by Team 4276 (10 matches + QF) were recorded in High Def and uploaded here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...hOzZpYv212J16B

In retrospect, it seems likely, although we didn't realize it at the time. If it had shown the same failure characteristic (120A breaker open) we would have replaced the breaker after Q109. We looked at the DS log after Q89 and the telemetry looked like a cRio reboot. We couldn't find a root cause for the reboot (we checked for loose wiring and found nothing), so it's possible the reboot was an early symptom of the breaker starting to fail (e.g. the breaker exhibited larger voltage drops, resulting in very low voltage causing the reboot). We'll take a fresh look at the DS logs in light of the later failures and see if we can conclude anything different.

Congrats to 294, 1717 and 5124! You were an incredibly strong alliance and most deserving winners!

Thanks so much to BeachBots (330) and Greybots (973) for inviting us to their alliance. We were amazed to be selected, given some of the difficulties we had on Friday. Our team's parents and mentor's partners were totally wrung-out after the finals! OK, the students and mentors were too...wow!!

We are so totally stoked that we could compete with you until the last match of the event.

Good luck to all of the above teams in St. Louis! We'd sure like to see you all playing late on Saturday in the Dome!
