2014 Orlando Regional

After Premiere night last night which I did watch completely for the most part. I have to say, echoing a lot of other people, Orlando is going to be stacked. Really stacked.

This will be my second trip to the land of oranges, first time with 1102 in 2010, and now with my rookie team 4901. I was there in spirit last year for 1772, but not there in body.

I'm excited to say we should be in pretty good condition by Orlando considering we will be competing at Palmetto Week 1. I'm really, really, really excited for this year's event!

Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Space Centere is having The Robot Rocket Rally event March 14-16, which overlaps with the Orlando Regional. If you have any energy left on Sunday the 16th, this seems worth checking out
Quote:

See examples of NASA-developed robots, discover how robotic technology benefits mankind, meet working robots, hear from robotics experts and even operate a robot. Included with daily admission

The three-day event features a robotic expo with hands-on exhibits and games showcasing the latest in robotic and engineering technology. The study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) is at the heart of Robot Rocket Rally, with exhibitors ranging from middle school robotics clubs to veteran NASA scientists and engineers.

List of speakers

List of robots being demonstrated

Looks like both FLL and FTC will be represented at the event.

Re: 2014 Orlando Regional

Does anyone have any of the wire clip connectors for the Honda Civic Window Motors we get from FIRST Choice. I'm looking at getting some off first choice but in case I don't get them in time it's always good to have a backup plan. We're using window motors on our newly implemented floor pickup.

My old head mentor from 1102 always had a hard time finding them for us, he ended up having to go to a junk yard to get them for some reason or another. I think it was because he had a hard time installing the wires into them.

You mean the pretty quickly uploaded match videos to youtube?

Re: 2014 Orlando Regional

As quick as they can. Producing and editing videos on the fly is not an easy task. However, they do the best they can and we appreciate the volunteer work they do to get these videos on line.

Having those match videos available on Friday night was the most helpful things scouting wise that I've ever seen. Last years Orlando Regional was so amazingly documented, I'm glad that will be happening again.

Nah I understand. Y'all did amazing last year; I think last year you guys had matches up something like 30-45 minutes after the match happened. And like Staxis said, you cannot get any better scouting help than that. To add to that the quality to which they are done, you guys are the best.

Re: 2014 Orlando Regional

624 is extremely excited to be going to Orlando, and from all these programs and other cool things (any match video at all alone is amazing) seems to be very well run and helpful for teams to learn. However, one seemingly off topic question...is the venue the main court of the UCF Arena or is it a smaller or practice court? I.E, is this an accurate image of the venue http://colleges.niche.com/images/sta...492/?v=083ACD8
