Sweet app, Ibertoncin! Quite easy to use!

Is there any way to export the data to a computer or something along those lines?

I'm currently experimenting on creating a web server from the device, allowing the user to type in an IP address to their browser to get a .csv file that they can copy and paste into excel.

Hi!
The app looks amazing, but I think that being able to type comments in before the end of the match is important. In other words, I think it would be helpful to have a comment field that you can go in and out of during the match instead of only being allowed to comment after all of the teleop points are accounted for.

Thanks again for all the hard work put into the app.

Do you have any idea of a release date?

Being able to type comments in during the match would be tedious and would distract the user from seeing every movement of the robot. I like to keep the user's actions minimal and quick during the match so that there isn't much missed. If you'd like to, you could provide your scouts with a notepad to jot down quick notes during the match, then type them in at the end of the match when the app pulls up that notes view.

Thank you for your compliment. It's nice to see how much this app has helped others.

The Orlando Regional runs from March 13th-15th, so I'd assume they'd release the match schedule on either the 12th or the 13th. Really, there is no official time that the match schedules are released at each regional.

I meant to ask if you knew when you would be able to code up a downloadable .csv version of the data.

Not sure. It's completely new to me, so I honestly don't know how long it'll take to figure out. And, once I have it working, Apple takes 7-8 days to approve the update.

My advice: don't hold your breath.

This app in incredible.

Any advice from teams who've used it to scout an actual event?

Can you connect more than 6 iPads so the driveteam can have access to the data?

If you want the drive team to get the data (which is exactly what my team will be doing), you should utilize the sharing on the "More" page. This will allow any party to send another every ounce of their recorded data (Pit scouting included).

The connection made on the "Scoring" page is for more of a non-obstructive way of real-time sharing so that all six scouts (Red 1, Red 2, etc) don't have to do anything different to get matches to send to one another.

As for advice, I noticed that the bluetooth connection API that I utilize in the app does not work once an iPad is put to sleep. So, big tip: Keep your iPads plugged in and put the auto-sleep timer to max if not off. (You can turn down your brightness if you're terribly concerned about battery life as well)

Thank you for the compliment! I heard from a Team Driven alumnus that the app was quite a hit at Crossroads this last weekend as well. I'm so glad it's helping everyone!

How is this legal when the game manual specifically says that Bluetooth is not legal?

No where in the manual does it state that bluetooth is illegal. There has been multiple CD threads and discussions on the topic.

No form of wireless communication shall be used to communicate to, from, or within the ROBOT, except those required per R55 and R60 (e.g. radio modems from previous FIRST competitions and Bluetooth devices are not permitted on the ROBOT during competition).
Maybe I am incorrect.

The key words there were "In the ROBOT."

The relevant rule is T4.

Quote:

T4
Teams may not set up their own 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz or 5GHz) wireless communication (e.g. access points or ad-hoc networks) in the venue.
Bluetooth does not fall under that.

EDIT: Here's a relevant post:

Would it be possible to allow us to have multiple pictures for a robot in the pit scouting section?
This would allow people to have different angels of the robot and/or pit.

I will put that into consideration for next year's app, but allowing multiple pictures can start eating up memory storage fast.

If you want to retake a better picture, just type in that team's team number in the "Record a Team" page in Pit Scouting and all their data will fill in and you can change whatever you need, then just overwrite what you have.
