Virginia, we had the same issue. There was a team that had some longer scrap pieces of Conduit. They kindly donated them but thankfully were not needed beyond a few matches.

Oddly enough I haven't seen a single ball bounce back into the field after being scored. If they add those panels at certain regionals it may be a smart idea to do what pyro mentioned was done. Or use giant versions of the tritons from Breakaway :P

I actually have seen a ball bounce back into the field after being scored, even with the panels. One ball. (On the other hand... that just happened to be the one the refs figured was a fully-scored ball, and pressed the end-cycle button... right before it bounced out...) |

Re: pic: Solve 1 problem, Create 1 more.
This happened to us in week one prior to the addition of the panels.
The panels probably actually help to minimize this problem since without it the round bars made a "pocket" for the ball to rest in. http://youtu.be/mdoWoOvaLAA?t=9s The video doesn't show the ball coming to a rest up there. I should also note that the volunteer nearly knocked the ball back through the goal onto the field trying to remove it. |
