Re: Engineering Awards Quinfecta

857 has inched closer to the quinfecta this season (we now have a trifecta):

Creativity:
* 2004
Excellence in Engineering / Delphi "Driving Tomorrow's Technology":
* 2004, 2015
Industrial Design:
* 2015

Team 2337 got the Industrial Design Award at the Kettering District and has now received the Engineering Awards Quinfecta.

Currently, we still have not won the following awards:

- Entrepreneurship Award
- FIRST Dean’s List Award
- Imagery Award
- Rookie Inspiration Award (no chance of winning)
- Woodie Flowers Award

Why is creativity so hard? :rolleyes:

157 still has yet to win the Industrial Design Award. That's the only one keeping us from the "Quinfecta" (Neat word :) )

Hopefully next year we can join the Group!

One of these years we can hopefully stand out better in Creativity/Control. 2x Quality and 2x Industrial in one season isn't bad though.

I honestly don't think FIRST promotes and gives the creativity award like they do the other 4. The biggest indicator is its awarding on Friday and not Saturday with the rest.

after winning the quality award at CIR this year, 2481 is only missing the excellence in engineering award to allow us to join this awesome list of teams.

Of all the teams to NOT have a creativity award, I don't understand HOW its 3467. Your robots are some of the most unique and creative year after year.

Haha thanks Kevin.

Our Creativity and Programming get wrapped up in the descriptions of other awards but maybe we should stress those words a little better.

I lost track how many times we had the word "Quality" in our 2012 technical documents for the judges and we figured out why it may have been a bad idea. :p

1714 MORE Robotics joined the quinfecta club by winning the Creativity Award at Lake Superior this year. Way to Learn MORE, Give MORE, Be MORE!

I always joke that its hard to tell what their robot does because its invisible :D

1058 is still searching for Industrial Design to finish our quinfecta. Hopefully it comes soon!

Re: Engineering Awards Quinfecta

I was expecting to see 1519 on the list of 'have 4, searching for the 5th' teams but was surprised we weren't... turns out we only have 2!! :eek:

I feel like we usually win a technical award, but turns out we've been getting a fair number of non-technical awards (EI, Entrepreneurship, Gracious Professionalism, Chairmans) in recent events... of which I'm also very (very!) proud, but I admit I'd like to further our suite of tech awards...

So far only:
Engineering Excellence: 3x (2014 NE CMP, 2013 NCR, 2010 NCR)
Innovation in Control: 2x (2015 GSD, 2010 GSR)

I admit we usually lack something highly creative, but I feel like our quality and industrial design are usually there... although probably smaller than our controls and 'engineering' elements.

Back to the technical-award-drawing-board... :-/

Looks like TORC has made the EDIT: Quad-fecta as a Michigan District team.

2008 - Creativity Award
2011 - Industrial Design & Engineering Inspiration
2013 - Innovation in Control
2014 - Quality

Still Missing Excellence in Engineering.

EI is not part of the quintfecta. You're missing Excellence in Engineering.
