It seems like most people treat Creativity as a lower design award than the rest, and thus often teams don't win it because they are given a higher design award.

254 is only missing Creativity...we received the Curie Division Innovation in Control Award last season, but it isn't reflected on the FIRST team page for some reason.

10 Quality Awards
8 Industrial Design
3 Engineering Excellence
1 Innovation in Control
0 Creativity

*toots horn*

As of this week, 2791 just needs Innovation in Control to complete the quinfecta. I'm pretty psyched about that.

1 Creativity - 2012 Connecticut
1 Engineering Excellence - 2013 WPI
3 Quality - 2013 BAE, 2014 FLR, 2015 Tech Valley
1 Industrial Design - 2015 FLR

After reading this thread I'm even more enthused about 3481's surprise, at least to us, first-time wins this season of Quality at Alamo and Industrial Design at Hub City.

These two awards in Texas are usually won by a group of 4-5 teams that we admire and look up to and winning them as a garage-based team with zero mechanical engineer mentors has been an awesome and rewarding experience for our students.

Well... two down and three to go and maybe we can join the club in the near future.... ;-)

Bringing back this thread, 868 just joined the club, winning the quality award at Walker Warren, anyone else join it this year?

3419 is proud to have entered this club this weekend, I believe as it's youngest member. And we've accomplished it all in a 3-year span:

2016 Tech Valley - Creativity
2016 NYC - Quality
2015 Greater DC - Quality
2015 NYC - Innovation in Control
2014 NYC - Industrial Design
2014 Greater DC - Excellence in Engineering
(also 2013 NYC - Innovation in Control)

I'm very proud of our student's achievements. In describing the Creativity Award at Tech Valley, the MC said something along the lines of "They said a pneumatic swerve couldn't survive Stronghold, but 3419 proved them wrong." That brought a large smile to our faces!

2485 is missing industrial design, but is otherwise there.

EI is not part of the quintfecta. You're missing Excellence in Engineering.

Seeing this thread got bumped, TORC kicked off our 10th season, with an Excellence in Engineering award at Waterford.

Quinfecta complete.

Team 1619 was only missing the Industrial Design Award, which was awarded to us at the Utah Regional last year. As we now have all five, that means we are now a member of the quinfecta club!

Team 2363 has 4 of the 5 design awards, missing creativity:

Quality (2013 Virginia)
Industrial Design (2011 Virginia, 2014 Chesapeake)
Innovation in Control (2015 Chesapeake)
Engineering Excellence (2011 Palmetto)

I am proud to say (and discover) that team 133 joined the ranks at North Shore (week 2), winning our first industrial design award.

Apparently we aren't very "Creative". Can we get someone from 190 to advise us on creativity? :)

Never thought about the Engineering Awards Quinfecta, now I want to join the club.

All the awards at competition are judged exactly as described in the game manual. The key point is having the student effectively communicate to the judges what / how / why the judge should know about this.

Look at the buzzwords in the award description and work them into the discussion with the judge.
