Re: Bayou Regional

Bayou was a great regional this year! (Like always.) Congratulations to teams 364, 3937, & 3616 on your win! And congratulations to every other team as well. I also would like to thank all of the teams that attended and made Bayou the great regional that it is. All of the teams were graciously professional and it was great competing with all of you. I definitely can't wait to see everyone there next year!

On another note, does anyone know why the Rookie All-Star award wasn't given?

Does anyone know if match videos will be posted? I'd really like to do some Picture in Picture from the onboard video on our robot.

Re: Bayou Regional

It was another great Bayou regional in 1912's opinion. Mr. Chris Copeland, who is the best MC in FIRST IMHO, did another amazing job. The judges did a great job deliberating and handing out awards. BLAST and Dr. Annette couldn't have organized a better regional.

First off, having 9 refs on the field was amazing, there was hardly ever a missed call and all matches were judged very fairly. Stephen had a great open book policy as Head Ref and made sure any questions or concerns were properly addressed. With all of the problems this year with fouls, we were lucky to get such an amazing crew together.

Thanks to Team Hero, 2190 for picking us to join their alliance, it was great working together and seeing you guys make it back to the Bayou for the first time since 2011. It was great seeing our relationship go from "Yeah 1912, that team that bent our frame" to great partners especially working in that last qual match.

I just wanted to acknowledge now team 456, a great team from Vicksburg, MS. Their safety program is the best (and cutest) I have ever seen. They are a team that displays gracious professionalism in every way. Our teams have grown very close after attending so many regionals together, and if you haven't competed with them yet then you are missing out.

Congrats to 364, 3937 and 3616 on the regional win. It was great to see 3 teams that I consider "Bayou teams" to win the regional. Y'all were a great alliance and were great opponents in the QF. I am also sure that 3959 was happy to take the wild card spot that was opened up by 3937. 1730 also received a much deserved EI, and I was certainly inspired by their team with their super handy iPad scouting app and elegant robot.

Also, congrats to team 2080. Picking y'all to join the alliance was a great decision, you did everything and more that was asked in the elimination matches. You guys deserved the RCA, working nonstop over the past few years to now reach over 6.5 million people!!! :ahh: I can't think of a more deserving team for the RCA. The Bayou is definitely sending the best teams to CMP and will represent the region great.

A very special congratulations to our own Alex Lew, keeping the Dean's list streak alive making it 6 Dean's List Finalist in 5 years for 1912. Alex is one of the most important members of the team, his outreach work, technical experience and passion for STEM is unrivaled. Seeing you develop from a shy, reserved freshman to the vocal leader you are today is amazing. I am so proud of you and everything you have accomplished. You will represent us great at CMP and whatever the future holds for you, it is great.

As a graduating senior, and someone who has been involved in FIRST for over 6 years, I couldn't think of a better regional to end my career as a student and driver. After driving in 8 competitions and attending 11 competitions, this was the best one I have ever participated in. I couldn't be more appreciative to everyone who has made these past few years the best of my life. By the end of Bayou our robot executed everything it was designed to do, and I am proud to say Apache has been the best robot the team has put together in recent history. (Hopefully the team will be able to make an IRI appearance for the first time)

P.S. Thank you to 1319 Flash for the donuts, we loved working with y'all and couldn't be happier you made the trip down.

Re: Bayou Regional

Team 3937, Breakaway, would like to thank all the volunteers, coordinators, and teams who help to make the Bayou Regional such a success year after year. I have been to this regional for five straight years now and have come to love the staff and key players. Thank you for all you do!

I want to thank team 364 for selecting us as their first pick and team 3616 for being such an incredible alliance partner. Each and everyone of our elimination matches were nail biters. The alliances were so even that anyone could have pulled out the win. Teams 3959, 2468, and 1927 made the finals the best I have seen in years. You guys have amazing robots and amazing teams.

Thanks again to the Bayou Regional, and team 3937 hopes to return again next year!

Re: Bayou Regional

2468 would to extend our Appreciation to the Bayou Regional. We had a great time competing and meeting so many new teams at the event. The event was very well organized and run all weekend long. It was our first trip to Bayou and it will definitely be in consideration in the future for us to attend.

MC Chris Copeland was great throughout the weekend, I just wish he had a few more hats and outfits to change into. He is so enthusiastic and committed to FIRST robotics and STEM education.

I could believe how fast scores were posted after each round. It was great to have nine referees and so many judges throughout the event.

Congrats to:

456 on the Gracious Professionalism award. 456 Mentors Chuck Dickerson (LRI) and Eddy Melton (FTA) were great to work with all weekend all long. No doubt why your team is so successful each year and that the Bayou event was so well run.

Mrs. Shelly Gaydos on her Woodie Flowers award and her team 2080 Torbotics on the Chairmans award. How many countries? How many hours of community service?

Tournament Champs: 364, 3937 and 3616 It was a pleasure to compete with and against you all weekend long. Great game plan and execution on the tournament win.

Team Driven 1730 was great throughout the weekend. Congrats on the EI award and punching your ticket for Champs. We love your FRC Scout app.

Thanks to 3959 Morgan Mech Tech for choosing us to participate on your alliance. We were impressed with your robot on practice day. You had a very had very consistent performance all weekend long. Too bad you guys lost one of your mecanum wheels during the Semi-Finals. You still continued to fight and battle thru Semis and Finals. Oh and BTW, congrats on the Wildcard for Championships from 3937 Breakaway. It was also great to meet and work with Ed Sparks for the first time at an event his team was participating in.

It was also great to partner with 1927 Tempest on the field throughout the eliminations. You guys did a great job with strategy execution throughout all the eliminations.

Norman

Thanks to teams 2468 and 1927 from 3959. You were awesome alliance partners. Our robots matched up very well. You guys are solid. We would choose you again in a heartbeat. That 265 point match was awesome. We all had a great time and learned a lot.

A special thanks to Coach Norm. You taught me a ton about how to lead an alliance. We would not have been the same without your leadership, direction and motivation. I look forward to many more years of competing with and against you.

I sure wish we had been at full strength during the finals. It would have been very interesting indeed. We took advantage of the 45lb rule and will be back at full strength for the Championships.

Congrats to teams 364, 3937 and 3916. You are all class acts. That was an amazing final and you guys displayed gracious professionalism in every way. I hope to see you again at the Championships.

Thank you to the Bayou Regional Committee for a first class event. We will certainly return again next year.

This is our first trip to the Championships in team history. We are very excited about it. We will definitely be prepared.

To all of the teams that attended the Bayou:

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. As one of the volunteers, we could not have an awesome event if it were not for the teams.

Thanks again!

BTW: This is my very first Chief Delphi post.

Who won Rookie All-Star? It isn't listed on the FIRST website.

I am sorry so to hear that. You guys had a great bot, and I appreciated it when you guys showed it to me when I came by your pit on Saturday morning. I look forward to seeing you again at Worlds. You have a well machined robot and well organized and trained team!

I do not know what was going on with the mecanum in the finals. Our alliance partner 3616 was down a wheel as well! I can imagine how those things handle with one wheel out.

(Emphasis mine..)

As a mentor of Norman's team for 8 years now, I've learned a thing or two about him. He is a paradox...both a big-hearted teddy bear and a fierce take-no-prisoners competitor. The thing I most know is that I never want to be on the opposite side of the field from him. :)
