Does anyone know where to find the slides from the PNW webinar 4/2/2014 ?
I would like to see what they posted about bumpers.

Information on bumpers is on page 18 of the slide-show.

Thanks for adding that. Unfortunately, the FIRSTWA website is pretty much impossible to navigate with a touch device. :(

I heard that there is going to be a full revamp soon, so it may get a lot easier sometime this month. :)

Going to have to agree with you there.

Also, it's super weird to think that 488 and 1983 still haven't played together yet. Things certainly have been different this year. Looking forward to seeing you at DCMP!

Thanks for the info. 1 district liked our bumpers 1 did not. Wanted to find out what we need before Portland.
Looking forward to see the top teams in Oregon and Washington.

There were a number of items that slipped by inspectors at the EWU and previous events that were not allowed at CWU. Some of that is due to a large number of rookie inspectors caused by the greater number of events. Some of it is due to a simple oversight on the part of one inspector. For example I made a team construct all new bumpers at CWU that I personally had passed at Auburn Mountainview because of something I missed.

We do realize that a situation like this is very frustrating to teams and there are plans to do a better job of training new and returning inspectors next season to minimize occurrences like this. We will also continue negotiating with FIRST to see if it will be possible to have teams un-bag their robot before their first event for a quick pre-inspection prior to and separate from their un-bag time. That way teams may use their 6 hour un-bag time to fix inspection issues so that robots are ready to pass inspection as soon as they come out of the bag at their first event. With better pre-season training we hope to prevent the surprises that some teams got at their second event.

So I do want to say that I and the other inspectors are very sorry that this happened to you and other teams, that we take this issue seriously and will work to improve for next season. I am proud to say that we did uphold the PNW tradition of "No Robot Left Behind"and at least at the 7 events in WA, no team missed their first match because they did not have their inspection sticker. Yes there were a couple of teams that got provisional stickers and had to play with some feature that was not in compliance disabled for their first match or two.
