MAR Championship 2014

Did not see one, so I figured I would start a thread. Seeing as the MAR championships are only 3 DAYS away, who is excited for Leigh?

Event info:http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprogr...egional-events

Teams Attending: 11, 25, 56, 75, 102, 193, 203, 222, 223, 225, 272, 293, 303, 304, 316, 341, 357, 365, 433, 484, 708, 869, 1089, 1218, 1228, 1257, 1279, 1302, 1403, 1495, 1626, 1640, 1647, 1676, 1712, 1923, 1989, 2180, 2191, 2495, 2539, 2559, 2577, 2590, 2729, 3142, 3314, 3929, 3974, 4035, 4361, 4373, 4573, 4954, and 5113.

Some notes:
18 Teams from PA
2 Teams from DE
35 Team from NJ

All of the members of last year's winning alliance with be at MARCMP this year (2590, 1640, and 2729)

MAR has 14 slots that will qualify a team for St. Louis. (2 Chairman's, 2 EI, 1 RAS, 3 winning teams, the next 6 point slots (4 are filled up by teams that qualified to World CMP via outside regionals)

By the looks of things, this might be the best MAR championships to date.

Good luck to all the teams attending/competing!!

I agree, this year does look like one of the most competitive years for MAR Championships. It's going to be interesting to watch as well as compete in. Team 4954 is super hyped to be able to attend MAR Championships it's rookie year! Maybe 1640 can keep up the streak and be apart of the winning alliance for the third year in a row!

Just a note, the schedule changed a little, and the field layout will be changing. All very hush, hush!!! Stay tuned!!!
The final teams pits placement will be complete by next Tuesday once all teams are locked in.

I was looking on the MAR website at the arena layout for MAR Championships and it does look completely different than last year. So is the field in the center of the arena and are the pits surrounding it?

I really hope that was a typo and that you wanted to say: Maybe 1640 can keep up the streak and be a part of the winning alliance.

Based on the current layout, it seems that the field has turned 90 degrees since last year. This was probably due to the fact that last year, game pieces were flying into pits behind the field (They seem to have drapings of varying heights to stop that this year), and I guess it might allow for an increased amount of seats with good views, since spectators will now want to sit on the horizontal sides of the arena rather than the left vertical side. However, by turning the field, it looks like now people must go to the corner stairwells to access the seating as it is all upstairs (similar to Rutgers 2012), instead being able to walk directly up the extended bleachers that Lehigh had last year.

Also, what exactly is the 'Peanut Gallery' for? :yikes:

Looks like it is an area for local media and team members with media passes. See page 10 of the document

Ah, there we go. That's what I was thinking, but for some reason in my mind I had it that the Media section was a spot in the stands somewhere.

At a public meeting during Duel on the Delaware this past fall, Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Petrillo discussed possibly creating a strictly scouting section in the stands and enforcing it with removable wristbands, but I guess that's a no-go for this year.

Haha. Yes. I do mean that. :) I just hope for some awesome high scoring qualification matches with no fouls.

Oh. Okay. Well it seems like a pretty well placed layout. I hope it is even better in person. Less then two days away! :)

The pit layout is really interesting, almost like a Ramp Riot style arena setup this year. 2729 is looking forward to it tomorrow. See everyone bright and early!

Nice! They announced the pit layout of each team which looks pretty well placed. :) I have a question, does anyone know where to download pithelper for an android phone because I have searched everywhere for it and can't fine it?
