Both S*M*A*S*H robots had a lot of fun at Panther Prowl this year!! We definitely had our issues with both robots but all in all it was great. Problems will be fixed by Robticon so look out! (; It was nice to see everyone again and to reconnect with teams. S*M*A*S*H hopes to see more teams at Roboticon coming up. If you haven't signed up yet please do! It will be so much fun! Also thank you the AWESOME New Englanders that came down and volunteered! Ali you did amazing as the MC! (:

Congratulations to 180 SPAM, 1557 12 Volt Bolt, and 1902 Exploding Bacon!

HAVE NO FEAR, S*M*A*S*H IS HERE!

Just curious....
How many teams would be okay with having to provide 1 volunteer to attend panther prowl? This might not include rookies and pre-rookies, but they could provide a volunteer if they want.

I would support that idea. However, I would be slightly concerned about having some positions (like refs) be filled by volunteers active on a team that was competing at the event. Also, the need for a large number of volunteers appears to be game dependent. This year required a large number of people to track assists, goals, fouls, human players and move the balls around during the match. This is in contrast with a game like Rebound Rumble where scoring was nearly fully automatic and field reset was simple.

Valid concerns and some good points. Thankfully there are solutions to the problem you mentioned.
1. Simply don't allowed volunteers from teams to ref
2. Only allow volunteers from teams to work on non field aspects of volunteering, such as cleaning and helping promote safety.
3. Use volunteers from teams as communication, preventing issues such as the missed lunch matches.

As for the amount of volunteers depending on the game, while this is true, there are always non-game field related tasks that could be made better with extra volunteers.

Question about the selection in the event itself...
Did torque purposely pull a scorched earth, or was that unintentional? In the pits we were just yelling "NOW SPAM CAN'T PICK 179!!"...

It was purposefully unintentional?

We knew that we were "scorching," but it was with a sort of naive hopefulness that one of those teams would join our alliance.

They came to me I told them we would say no, they went to our driver who told them no, for us atleast it was not done with hopefulness.

Their is no hard feelings though, alliances went the way they did, we hope to see 5283 attend roboticon in their home city.

Whatever the intention - it made for a very entertaining Alliance selection.

Well, we just wanted to make sure that 179 was going to say no. You know, just to be absolutely sure you guys weren't bluffing. ::safety::

And I'm hearing that we're scheduled for Roboticon, so we'll definitely be there.
