Re: 2014 MN State Championship
Will Elims be 3 (regional) or 4 (champs/IRI) team alliances?

Re: 2014 MN State Championship
State was a lot of fun! I'm glad we finally got the opportunity to be an alliance captain. Thank you 2530 and 3018 you guys were awesome to work with in elims and we gave it our best! Thanks to 2052 and 4778 for being great opponents. A special thanks to 2175 for helping advance our team so much further than I thought possible.

Re: 2014 MN State Championship
Me(and our team 2512 ) want to thank Team 4009, The Denfield DNA, and 3313, Mechatronics, for the great time in the elimination matches. We lost them but we had a great time working with you guys.

Re: 2014 MN State Championship
This event was extremly fun to compete in! Congratulations to all teams involved. Special congratulations to teams 2052, KnightKrawler, and team 4778, Stormbots for being such great alliance partners!!!
I think it's important to recognize the great teams from MN that didn't make it though. For example team 3130, ERRORs, fielded thier best robot to date this year, but unfortunatly didn't qualify. Again congratulations to everyone, elims were extremly fun to play with you all. Hope to you all next year!!! |
Re: 2014 MN State Championship
Congrats to everyone today. It was quite a fun competition to compete in, and fast paced to! For those who are curious about how KING TeC used our six hours, and what went on in the pits today: Our goal was to be maneuverable from the beginning of the build season, so we chose swerve. Little did we know it screwed us over in the end. For state, we modified the swerve drive, and added steering linkages to the front pair of wheels, and the back pair of wheels, to make it turn more like a car. We even had a steering wheel. For the first two matches, it worked ok, and we ended up burning out all of our turn motors match three. We then took out all of the turn motors, and replaced all of the swerve modules with backup tank drive modules, and locking them in place with tip-ties. After that, we probably moved more than all of our previous competitions combined. Oh, and we only broke a wheel, part of our arm, and a few other things. Lots of fun, and I can't wait for the next competitions to come!

Re: 2014 MN State Championship
I am so very proud of my team.
Just a year ago we walked out of the Williams Arena as Champions. We were the 2nd pick on the Alliance of 2052, 2175, and 4607. We were not a large piece of the puzzle - but we were an integral piece, with 2052 and 2175 bearing most of the burden. Earlier in 2013, we won North Star Regional with 967 and 2175. Two months ago we were again chosen to be part of an alliance that would see us reaching the Semi-finals at North Star Regional - again with 967 and 2175. For the first time in our short history, CIS 4607 made it to an eliminations - without the aid of 2175. It was the first time that this team was one of the Alliance Captains. One of my mentors asked me if I thought that the Calculators would choose us. I stated 'no - they need to take a bigger target off the field'. And we needed to step out from the wings of 2175. I cannot thank 2175 enough for all they have done. It would have been great to work with 2175 once again, but there was no doubt what the true prize was for being the #1 alliance - 2052. I would be lying if I said I was not a little disappointed... everyone is when they are not chosen first. However, for my team to grow - to 'stretch the rubberband' - we needed to take this next step on our own. We were so excited to take 3018 - who we knew would be a dark horse of the tourney and fit our Strategy team's plan so well. And then to end up with 2530 was a dream. It was a great moment for CIS to stand toe-to-toe against our former alliance partners from last season's State Tourney. For my team, it is a mark of how far we have come to face off against two giants of MN FRC. This team started from scratch a little over a year ago now faced off against two of it's toughest opponents - and two teams that made such a profound impact on the growth of 4607. It was an honor to face off against 2052 and 2175. 2013 will always be a banner year for CIS 4607 - but it is 2014 where we have made our greatest achievements. What a great thing for Minnesota to have the MSHSL behind our FRC teams! |
Re: 2014 MN State Championship
State was a great time! Our team had a blast. Though one of our cims was working some of the time. The gear box is a little unhappy as well. Thankfully it was not enough to stop our robot from rolling around. Though it did scare some of 5172 wondering if our robot was going to move. Thanks to 5172 and 1816 for being apart of an amazing alliance that did not go down easy. The calculators were only beat 2 times, and 3883 was a part of both of their losses :D. Congratulations to 2175, 2052, and 4778 on the win it was a great time playing in the semi finals. Our alliance didn't go down with out a fight. Also thanks to 2512, 4009, and 3313 for a great 3rd place match. So far the first seed has always taken the win at state. Who knows what next year will bring. Hope to see all the teams again at an off season event or during the next season.
