Re: 2014 MN State Championship

Does anybody know if the state championship will be archived on The Blue Alliance? The 2013 Championship is on there so I'd have to think 2014 will be as well. Also if anybody has taken videos of the Championship and is willing to share them that would be awesome! Either PM me or publicly post it. Thanks.

You know it was a good competition when you can barely talk for a day after the competiton. State was this type of good competition.
I'm sorry I'm very late to the bandwagon, but State was amazing start to finish. Props to doing the Macarena before matches even began, and triple props to all the amazing teams we got to compete against. It was challenging, it was nerve wracking, and it was wholly worthwhile. Thank you to Gators and Green Machine for picking us, and Green Machine again to making our Driver his own ramp.

Congratulations to all the teams who made it (and even those who didn't-you all did amazing. Scouting was actually kind of difficult due to all the action, which is great!), and remember you all made your teams and schools proud no matter what position you were on the team, or in the rankings.

Also, the prank 2175 played on us was a great way to begin the day. Watch out for 3883, guys.

This was definitely the most competitive state championship we have held yet. I would like to thank all of the volunteers and people who helped make this event a success. I would like to thank 2052, KnightKrawler, and team 4778, Stormbots, for being such great alliance partners in elims. 2052, you guys always manage to get the job done no matter what role you play, good job also to your human player for getting the ball to rest on our arm when we lost our joystick control. 4778 you guys managed to adjust to every strategy change going throughout elims and gave the alliance the solid autonomous we wanted so neither us or 2052 had to run our two ball.

Finally I'd like to give a shout out to one team that hasn't been mentioned nearly enough this year. 5172. You guys built an amazing robot. It was easily one of the best and most consistent MN robots all season. You guys showed up to Duluth and wowed everyone out of the get go in your first match, also you continued improvement throughout the year seeding 14th in Curie. By the end of the year your drivers looked like some of the best on the field playing awesome offence and very smart defense. I can't wait to see what you build next year and hope we can compete in elims together for once.

Good call. 5172 build a solid robot that held up through very tough competition. It's great to see another strong MN team on the map.

On behalf of team 2530 Inconceivable from a mentor on a one year pseudo sabbatical, a big thank you to team CIS 4607, our alliance captains for choosing us and to 3018 Nordic Storm. It was a great day, even though I spent almost all of it as a spectator. I've been affiliated with team 2530 in one way or another (parent, mentor, inspector) since its inception in 2008, and it is great when we get a chance to play with many of the other MN teams. (We've been going to Milwaukee the past couple of years due to scheduling issues.)

Congratulations to champions 2175, 2052 and 4778 for some great finals matches. You guys were just too good to beat.

Also thanks also to all the volunteers, mentors and coaches that make all this possible. The work you do is awesome.

3018 had a great time at the MSHSL Championships. I felt really bad for the way we ended up eliminating 3313, 2512, and 4009, though. It is never fun to win based on penalty points, which is really what the whole semifinal match number 2 ended up being about. Although I was pretty bummed for our seniors to not go out on top, the champion alliance was great - 2052, 2175, and 4778. Funny how 2052 helped us get to the tournament, then they beat us later. I will try to get all the 3018 videos on line sometime this week in case anyone wants to watch them. Thank you all for another great year of FIRST in Minnesota!

After going through 23 gigs of footage and 3 different cameras the 3883 Highlight video from state is complete. The video turned out good, but could have been better. What they call the "media" section was not great. Down on the floor behind 10 different people. I was not impressed with how the media section is handled. A great way to make FIRST LOUD is to make videos to share around, but the back side of 3 refs, 2 human players, and multiple volunteers is really hard to get great looking footage. I dont like to rant but I feel the media side of FRC is shoved off to the side where they wont get in the way. It would be nice to actually get a decent position to film the robots in action. I dont know if anyone else shares this view and it would be nice to hear form others. Ok im done ranting. Here is the highlight video.

CIS loved watching your robot at North Star and at MSHSL. The last two years you guys have put together a great robot (and obviously in years past, we just weren't there to see it).

Thanks. The GoPro 3 Black+ has an amazing super view setting. If any teams can track one down I highly suggest finding a spot on the robot. It make for some really cool shots.

I know we are a bit late to the party, but KnightKrawler wanted to give a big THANK YOU to all those involved who continue to make the MSHSL State Championship possible.
Congrats to all the teams that qualified and spent those 6 hours really perfecting their bots. It was a really competitive event, but at the same time couldn't have been more GP. We received so much help from both inspectors and teams trying to diagnose our robot's issues so we could perform to our best. This is what FIRST is all about! :D
Thanks to both 2175, The Fighting Calculators for having the confidence in us, and 4778, Stormbots. We had a very flexible alliance and were able to change strategy throughout elims which was crucial!
It was bittersweet playing so many great MN teams this weekend. CIS 4607 - what a truss shot! 2nd year team?! No way! Keep up the awesome work! 3018 Nordic Storm, we have always looked up to how you embody the FIRST ideals and compete like crazy. 2530 Inconceivable, awesome pneumatic shooter/passer, but kinda miss the plywood ;)
1816 Green Machine, you do so much for FIRST in MN. We only dream of emulating you. 3883 Data Bits, awesome 2 ball auto and videos this year. 5172 Gators, you wouldn't have guessed you were rookies and the defense was stellar.
A special shout out 3313, 4536, 2512. It was great getting to compete one more time with you this year.
Throughout state, the matches were awesome and KnightKrawler was proud to have competed! :D

Re: 2014 MN State Championship

Does anyone have the Qualification Rounds documented? I am looking for info for the match scores. TBA is not yet current and the MSHSL site as well as the MN FRC sites do not have these posted.

Thanks!

I thought that said what matches happened, but as for scores, I have no idea. I think Chris (FRC3883FRC) might have them on video.
I remember a match with 170 foul points, though, and 2 robots fell over (3018, and one that looks like 706 when it comes to the shooter (I have pictures)).

Re: 2014 MN State Championship

I only have the matches 3883 were in(and its close up on the robot). The footage I got was not all that great due to the lack of a good media section. The whole match footage from the "media section" would look terrible and you would see the back side of volunteers, human players, and reffs 75% of the time. If match footage is wanted then there needs to be a better place for the "team media" person to get it.
