Where to buy a new pit?

Hello! We're a Montreal-based team and we're thinking of changing our pit for next year. We're wondering where we could purchase one that is not too expensive, but conform to the rules. Thanks!

Try building one... Wood is a great material and is not to speedy. We make ours fold up for easy transport/storage.

Purchase a pit? Very, very few teams buy theirs. Elements, yes. The whole thing, no.

You have an offseason. You have a 10' cube to work with (make sure it can shrink to 8'x8'x10' high). I highly suggest taking a fair amount of time during this "offseason" to design and build a pit layout/structure, which may involve manufacturing and/or buying elements. Maybe start by taking a walk through the "organization" section of an office supply or home improvement store.

Our old one was made out of 4" black PVC tubes which we had purchased.

Have a look at ours here http://1334.ca/content/Pit_Design_and_Construction.pdf
Several other teams have more-or-less copied it.

How exactly could we get our hands on one of these?

Based on the great instructions and your abilities to build robots, I'd guess you could build one before your first off-season event.

That is a super-spiffy design, you might want to ask teams in your area and maybe do a build-a-thon to make a few.

It's a great design project for your team during the off-season. Take a look at this thread for some other ideas:

We use regular plastic shelving as the outside corners of our pit. We made a pit design guide as well.

It's pretty simple and functional.

We built this for 2014, replacing our old 80/20 pit, and it works great. Goes together in under 30 minutes, and comes apart quicker.
