This is entirely correct, although the #1 alliance DID get to see the #8 alliance's strategy on three occasions, developing a counter-strategy for QF1-2 and QF1-3. I feel like the #8 seed got the short end of the stick here.

I agree, no one likes playing replays, and there should be a system in place that allows the field logs to be recorded with out having to run entire matches that put robots at risk and give away strategy. However the #1 seed still won and we should give them credit for that. I said the #8 seed did a great job and believe that. Play that series again and it may easily go the other way but we shouldn't diminish the accomplishment of the #1 alliance.

Not necessarily the best alliance, but 1625 shows how to play offense (inbound and truss) and defense (setting picks, or clearing a path).

Windsor Essex Regional - SF 1-2

This set of matches shows how an alliance of underdogs (blue - 4525, 4917, 4519) up against the powerhouse alliance (red - 2056, 1114, 5288) can hold their own, given good strategy and smart drive teams.

While blue was significantly out-matched offensively, all three robots on the blue alliance were able to dynamically switch roles throughout the match when 1114 and 2056 were laying down some big defence.

Blue took 1 match off of red, and the other two matches were both extremely tight matches - one of which was lost due to a 20pt foul.

Here's part of a match where we managed to do a 60-point cycle, under a bit of defense on the final pass. It looks like we cooperated pretty well in that match (as well as in many others, by the way!)

Match 68 on Archimedes was a really consistent cycle with 2056 inbounding the ball and shooting over the truss to the human player. 329 would get the ball from the human player and use their catapult to give it back to the human player who would give it to 399 which put it in the low goal.

Qual 109 on Archimedes was really fun to be a part of.

33 would inbound and truss to the HP.
1671 immediately received and shot the ball across the white zone.
And 1625 did a quick 10 point shot from the red alliance line.

310 points no penalties.

Michigan Qualification match 110. Red alliance pulls the "900 strategy", as I call it, with 107 shooting the ball from the feeder station, over the truss, to the far HP. The HP then feeds the ball to 1506 in the middle zone, which outtakes to 67 for quick 3 ball assist cycles.

Thought it was interesting, just because in the past I saw 2 assist cycles with that strategy the majority of the time, and a defensive bot.

All the Division Championship and Einstein matches. Really incredible teamwork on everybody's part.

Sigh... And this is why we had the worst schedule in the division.

1983 and 1318 worked beautifully together at both auburn and champs to come out with two wins. The duo got lots of practice together at auburn which was for our scouting team to justify picking the ?34? seed as our 1st pick even though they had been plagued with technical problems all weekend and were on nobody else's radar

Having driven against your alliance in Auburn, I would have to agree. i think your alliance, and our alliance both did a great job to combine scoring and defense.

There was quarterfinals 3-1 on curie. There was some defense on both sides, but the most interesting part was the ability for each robot to swap roles on the fly.

Thanks to team 1676 for recording all of the matches!

To be honest, the opposing alliances hadn't yet worked out effective defensive strategies in Week 1. I think the link to SVR is a much better example.

Had a lot of fun watching those quarterfinals and the matches that followed involving the #2 alliance on Curie. I think these matches really show what good teamwork can do for you on the field. The drivers and coaches for red were able to go so far as to change offensive strategies cycle to cycle depending on what they saw on field because of the level of communication and teamwork found in the the red driver station.
