Next year it looks like they will be working on this to make sure that it won't happen again. At least they have admitted the mistake.

This is not rocket science. They could simply plan on Einstein running late.

What's worse, to cut coverage in the middle of Einstein, or to to have a bit of filler or downtime if it finishes on time.


C'mon, they sponsor FRC teams. Einstein happens once a year.

Don't blame NASA. This is 100% FIRST's fault.

Every year they insist on publishing a schedule that is blatantly wrong. There is no chance Einstein would be done by when they said it would be. There never is...yet they continue to publish a schedule saying it will be.

What is NASA supposed to do? Assume FIRST is wrong and allocate resources for longer than they're told they need them? FIRST needs to get realistic and fix the schedule.

Well, if I were running the show that's what I'd do. Because as you said above, they wouldn't have to assume FIRST is wrong if they're wrong every year.

And if they had assumed wrong and added an extra hour because Einstein was 3 hours last year and 2 hours this year? They'd have an hour of dead space. Presumably that costs someone money and wouldn't be well received.

I completely agree with you. Last year the nasa stream did the same thing but it was actually way worse I think it cut off even before the matches on Einstein started I think. Knowing this I was expecting this to happen. So compared to last year I thought that FIRST did a great job but there is still room for improvement next year. But I also think that NASA is going to need to partly be a part of the solution since even in the sports that are on TV run over and the broadcasters shift there schedule if they do but NASA needed to be notified it was a possibility for this to happen.
