What are those controllers in 1992

I was wondering what those white controllers with the 2 black switches were?

I took at look at the TechnoKats History Project archive for 1992. As nearly as I can tell, it looks like they were custom controllers, particularly given the drawing, which appears to show that one controller had 2 handheld units, each having 2 switches.

My, the control system has come a long way...

These were not wireless controllers.

Team 45 still does, occasionally. We sometimes show off our 1992 robot ("Cornvette") at demo events.

Can someone get a picture of the '92 robot next to a current robot, with control system? (And, if there are some around, how about including a robot using the IFI system and/or whatever the system was in the late '90s?)

Just for the scale difference, and all that.

Here is a side-by-side picture of two of the robots on display at FIRST HQ.

Here's Cornvette (1992) facing off against KatsKlaw (2004).

The 1992 robot has no "control system" to speak of. It uses mechanical switches wired directly to motors.
