Kudos to the IndianaFIRST board and competition committee. This schedule allows teams to attend all four events while only missing two days of school (the State Championship falls on many schools' spring breaks). The locations are easily accessible, and the hosts each have quite a bit of experience with events.

These are great venues. A bonus for me is that I get to sleep in my own bed for one of these events.

Looking forward to 2015!

I plan on sleeping in my own bed for ALL of these events.
(if budget holds, we may stay at Purdue, but that's just because BOILER UP!)

Awesome. If my schedule holds up I'll be able to volunteer at each event. The joys of being a college student with a flexible schedule :D *

*- I'm a senior, so this ability is gone after this season

How's this for an oh $#&@ moment 2 days before initial event registration...

Email from Indiana FIRST this morning:

Hello Teams,

We have an important message from the IndianaFIRST Board:

--------------------------------------------
Indiana FRC Teams -

The IndianaFIRST Board has an important update about the location for the Week 1 District Competition.

We have recently identified a scheduling conflict for the space intended to be used for the Week 1 District Competition at Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis, which was not made apparent at the time of the selection.

We feel that having Week 1, 3, 4 District Competitions and a Week 6 State Championship is the best possible schedule for the Indiana FRC community, and we are working to find an alternate site in the Indianapolis area for a Week 1 District Competition.

Right now the location is to be decided.

We will communicate the new location and dates of competition as soon as we are locked into a site.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and would like to thank the Competition Committee for their continued efforts in identifying a new location. If you have any questions, feel free to email board@indianafirst.org.

I'm not complaining too hard about that fact. It accounts for the large number of high school gyms that can handle FRC district competition events.

It's also the reason that the Kokomo event was not scheduled for Week 2.

True. It used to be that Indiana had 9 out of the 10 largest high school arenas in the country. Don't know if that is still true or not. Everyone should get to experience small town basketball in Indiana once in their lives.

But when the ISHAA decides at the last minute to bump up sectionals one week other schedules be damed, it's a bit frustrating.

The distribution is certainly interesting. With about 90% of Indiana teams registered within the first two hours, it seems that we're on top of things.
I hope that every team that wants to get 3 district experiences has the opportunity to do so.

Indiana registration was painless and very interesting. With 45 teams currently registered we have somewhere between 83% and 86% of expected teams registered for one district event.

Teams yet to register include:
3180
3301
4008
4545
4580
4690
4791
4846
4926
4927
and hints of another rookie (Lewis Cass and Bedford are registered)

After registration for 2nd districts there will be somewhere between 12 and 16 spaces left for 54 teams to fight over. Not everyone will get three district events.

I'm not even sure who's running Arlington HS anymore after the private company pulled out. I can just about guarantee 4545 won't be back.

I found it interesting that Queen City had so few teams sign up. Indiana state being the same weekend makes me think that has affected attendance at Queen City. I'm sure they will fill up when it's all said and done.

As far as the empty slots for teams to get three district events, would those also be open to other district teams like ones from Michigan?

Interdistrict registration does not open until January. Any slots not used up after "additional event" registration closes in December should be available.

The Indianapolis District event is going to be at Lawrence North High School. Home of IRI. It is a Sat-Sun event.

Re: Indiana District Events and CHP Event Announced!

10 days in, we've got 50 teams registered for their first district event.

Teams that competed in 2014 that are missing for 2015 registration:
4070
4545
4690
4791
4846

And 3 new rookie teams:
5402
5403
5484

I don't know the story on any of the non-registered veterans - whether they're not coming back or are just having temporary issues. Also not sure if 10% attrition is common for FRC.
