No,

Sorry we just log all applicants into a google doc and then send out an email at the end of the month or sooner if we reach 32 teams.

Edit: currently at 22/32 robots. Only 10 more spots left.

That has to be a record number of practice/freshman bots.

Due to some random requests I'm going to do an impromptu workshop Saturday on motor curves, arm/elev/system gearing/motor selection, and similar math for drivetrains.

Exact location and time TBD, but likely Saturday afternoon.

Can this workshop be filmed for those who are unable to attend?

We are planning a filming of Adam's workshop and hope to have it available to the public via 973 RAMP.

To all those interested in attending, the workshop details have been finalized. The workshop will be at 10am Saturday (during practice matches, so no real matches will be missed) in the Madtown robotics lab classroom (see attached image totally not made in MS Paint). There will be signs out detailing where to go, and an announcement will be made during the event.

Even if you cannot make the workshop, if you have any specific topics you would like Adam to go over relating to these subjects, post them here or message me and I will let him know.

Are there any plans to webcast this event? I looked on TBA and 1323's website and didn't see a link.

Is the webcast going to be up for eliminations? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zanvAQ0xknA looks like the right stream ("MadTown ThrowDown Day 2") but it has been saying "Please Stand By. We're experiencing technical difficulties" all day.

EDIT: Nevermind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLK4Kmvp21w was pointed out to me.

Team 254 had an awesome time at Madtown Throwdown. Thanks to Team 1323, Team 1671, and all the volunteers for putting on the event!

Also, thanks to Adam Heard for his workshop on Saturday. Myself and the 254 drive-team learned a lot.

We're looking forward to MTTD next year!

Thank you all for coming down, and thank you for bringing your truss last minute and saving the competition when our field didn't ship with one. Y'all seriously should have gotten the GP award for that. Congrats on the win guys, and we hope to see you next year.

Are the videos from eliminations going to be archived anywhere? They were some pretty intense matches, especially the last finals match (I believe it was the highest combined score of 2014).

Don't get your hopes up too high! It was pretty unplanned so I ramble a lot.

I highly recommend watching Ken's motor presentation with Gamesense from last week first. I took advantage of that having aired to not explain the motor side of things too much, and instead focus on the "Get stuff done" aspect of gearing.

I learned a lot from Ken's presentation, surprisingly. The table he had for making decisions on the diameter of the winch drum was an incredibly simple but effective way to communicate the ramifications of decisions the mechanical team could make and in terms that non-theory engineers can understand. This is always my biggest hurdle with my team. There are several other seemingly small things that can help others on my team understand consequences of some of the decisions they make.

Even if you think you ramble too much, I bet there are still nuggets of great info. "Getting stuff done" right the first time is actually hard to do sometimes.
