Regional Competition date rumors
 

I figured this was a better place to post this than the rumor mill; in this thread there are several posts with semi-reliable information on the expected dates for the regionals which have not yet been "confirmed" and posted on the FIRST website. I thought I'd consolidate them here with the justification so you can make your own judgment for planning purposes. I'll try to keep this post updated as other information becomes available, and I'll remove regionals from the list as they make it onto the FIRST confirmed list.

I copied the regionals from last year's list, removed the Indiana Regionals and added a couple of new ones that have been advertised. Sorry, no District information - I'm not sure what's still missing there. "Blog Post" numbers are the posts from the referenced thread.

The Indiana State Championship was announced as Week 6, April 3‐4. I don't know why it isn't on the FIRST event calendar yet.

What's the source on Smoky Mountain? Did you talk to LJ directly?

I sent him an email about a month ago and he replied with the dates, saying it had not been confirmed yet.

I received a PM from a reliable source that the Minneapolis regionals are moving from week 5 (as reported on the MSHLS Website) to week 6 due to a scheduling conflict, still unconfirmed. I updated the list to reflect this.

Lone Star will be week 6, according to a PM who says it's "confirmed enough"

The calendar of events for Avanti's Dome, the Central Illinois Regional's location last year, has an even listed in the evening of the 25th (wed). So perhaps it isn't there this year and no speculation can made quite yet on what week CIR will fall on.

Unless they move it to Friday-Sunday.

Hub City jumped to confirmed on USFIRST today (same dates as "rumored") so I'm removing it from the list. That was the only addition to the confirmed list today.

Uh oh, it won't let me edit my first post; is there a limit to the number of edit's you're allowed?

Yeah, I see some notes about that in the CD Forum Support forum threads, but I sure can't find any rules about it in the "rules" section. Is it time since the original or the most recent edit - can I just edit it every 12 hours, do I have to start another thread every time I find I can't edit the previous one? Seems rather silly.
It would be nice to know - the whole reason I started a separate thread was so people didn't have hunt through 200 posts to find a summary, and now the information in the first post is outdated.

I had the same issue when I started the 2014 thread. I discovered the same time limit thing on editing then. I believe it's from the first posting.

I know because I frequently edit my posts to keep from posting repetitively, particularly in the Registration threads.
New users may have a shorter span.

It may also be because of my generation: 2002

I just looked and only found this "Your ability to edit your posts may also be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum."

I think thread titles have a shorter edit time (a few hours).

The two Georgia regional are on the official list now. Dates as predicted. The Perry regional (week 1) is FSS.

Smokey Mountain is April 1-4.

Honestly, I tend to go to latest unread post. So I'd have to scroll up/go to new page to find your summary post.

Truth, if you just copy/paste and update the info in a new post I don't think it's that bad... I don't think we're paying by the character to store data :P

I've finally been given the go-ahead to tell teams that North Star and 10,000 Lakes is week 6. The contract is signed and delivered, and we expect it to be posted to FIRST's site soon.

Yes, finally! For those of you that don't absolutely LOVE your regional/district planning committees... you should give them a big thank you because putting a competition together is hard and stressful work. There are a lot of people putting in a lot of volunteer hours to make these competitions work.

Las Vegas week 5 confirmation to FIRST should occur Monday the 21st and hopefully be posted by FIRST on Tuesday...yeah I know, cutting it close. Fortunately, historically , 75% of teams at our regional are second event players so scramble to sign up not likely on the 25th. Now second event registration date is another thing...;)
