Between now and April it could be an interesting roller-coster ride, if last year is any indication of how long it will take getting to that 2707. The ride (timeline) based on Mark's inputs for Registration 2014 are as follows:
18 Nov 13: crossed over the 2700 registered teams milestone
10 Dec 13: the high point was 2797 registered teams
10 Jan 14: then down to 2733 registered teams, following the 'purge'
13 Feb 14: then down to 2726 registered teams
26 Mar 14: settling down to 2710 registered teams
Finally ending at 2707 for the number of registered teams

There are a few Michigan teams who have not registered for events because they are sitting on the wait-list for a district spot.

That's true for teams across the board every year.
As long as it's somewhat consistent each year then it gives us a pattern to anticipate and gives us reasonable year-to-year comparisons.

Eventually they all get released.

Re: Registration 2015

We almost didn't get into a second regional this year, the only regional that had any openings in California after the first minute f registration today was Central Valley. While we love CVR and it got into our schedule better than last year, it's kind of disappointing to not have any choice. And we were planning on doing three regionals this year too which is now an impossibility.

Keep in mind most CA events (LA being an exception, haven't looked at SVR yet) have a 15 team reserve right now still. That's a combined 60+ plays opening up.

As for 3 events, I think we're past the days of any given team assuming they can get 3 plays in CA. Too crowded unfortunately.

A lot of CA teams are looking at nonCA events for their 2nd event.

We were looking at either Arizona West in Week 6 or Utah in Week 3 and both have already filled-up as well, so unless either of those regionals has an extensive waitlist capacity, we can't even do that.

I believe every event has a 15 team reserve.

Some events that filled during initial registration started clearing their reserves and moving teams onto the official list already (like LA).

If you talk to RD's and are patient, you'll be able to get it worked out.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip.

Here is where the missing 312 teams are from.
Some, like Israel, are traditionally later to register, so it's not unusual for them.
And some are undoubtedly hidden on waitlists to appear later when their event assignment comes through.

88.5% have returned from last year.
11.5% are still missing.

Longest missing resurrected veteran team is Team 1481, RoboRaiders from Farmington Hills, MI who last played 8 years ago in 2007.

P.S.
Based on typical team retention rates, ~244 of last seasons team's will not put in an appearance this season.
But on a lighter note, about 12% or 29 of these teams that go missing this year will reappear during the next four seasons.

Re: Registration 2015

Typically, at what time do teams get registered or rejected for an event from the wait-list? Does it vary greatly from region to region?
