In Michigan it is. There's some system involving home districts.

Looks like Midwest will be a host to more international teams. Currently there are two teams not from the U.S. one from Israel And another from The United Arab Emirates. This doesn't include the 3 teams from Turkey that have been there in the past.

For district teams, is it even necessary to be on early for the first district, as you have to sign up for your home event anyway?

Doesn't much matter today because "home" slots are reserved for some time (Gail mentioned this specifically in an email), but timing probably will be important come Oct 9.

Michigan teams can opt out of home venue, if the choose to. This season due to State grant, not many teams have registered today. Come Oct. 9th, most of the venues in SouthEast Michigan and few up-north will be filled out in few minutes!

  • Los Angeles

Yep, both 10K and North Star are filled up. It really is a shame, but there are always a handful of Twin City area teams that can't get in to the Minneapolis events, and then have to travel to Duluth, Milwaukee, or Chicago instead.

Keep in mind that the events are filled to their initial capacities. I'm sure there are some reserved spots and we'll see teams moved to take up those spots in the coming days (provided there are teams on the waitlist).

Remember that right now registration is capped at around 30 teams for each. Last year there were 60 teams at each (well, 63 at 10K Lakes). If a Twin Cities team wants to be at North Star/10K Lakes, they still have a pretty good shot at being there.

Edit: Well, Evan beat me to it :)

I'm surprised that they didn't register for 10k lakes since 525 is there. Happy to have them at North Star!

1. Regional Name {And link to registered teams}
2. Regional Location
3. Regional Dates
4. Number of Registered Teams
5. Number of Spots Available

FIRST used to have a page like this that made for a great quick reference for those of us who like to follow registration season. It hasn't been around for a while, but it seems like this would be easy enough to create by someone who has a little bit of time.

I've created a Google Docs with this information. I'll edit it as teams register but if someone knows how to set up a spreadsheet that pulls the data automatically, go for it because I'm unsure how to do it. Remember, I'm updating this manually so before you register for an event, check USFIRST.org to make sure you have the most updated slot count. This is meant to just be a reference page.

I am aware of this, but some teams still manage to slip through the cracks. I trust the Planning Committee to do their best to accommodate as many teams as they can, but the fact is that there are just more teams that want to get in than slots available.
