Extra Spots at Regionals?
 

I was looking at the list of regionals and I noticed that every one that I checked had less spots for teams this year than last year. I wasn't sure if they reduced the sizes of all of the regionals (which seems unlikely), or if they open up extra spots for second round of registration, or if it's something else.

Spots are reserved for 2nd registration and for rookies/late signups.

All the CA events withheld 15 spots, unsure if this was the same number elsewhere.

It's quite common to hold back spots for late-registering teams. There are just more of them this year for some reason.

I'd anticipate some of those being opened up for 2nd-event registration, and the rest being filled as time goes on.

The number of spots held back was 10 last year in many cases this was not enough so FIRST upped the amount to 15 to avoid the problems it caused last year.

Pretty sure they aren't holding them for 2nd round registrations; just teams having problems with funding/signing up and rookies.
