Well our schools mascot is the blue devil, our other sports teams are the blue devils. We originally named our team blue devil builders, however when we tried to register for competitions our team name was one character too long. So we named the team Trident robotics in order to keep with the schools theme.

Our School: Newport High School
Our Mascot: The Knights Our Team Name: NRG (Newport Robotics Group) We use different variations of Knights (usually mixed with a robot) in our shirt designs and use a castle/knight theme in our bits. Our mascot is a student is a Knight costume... "Knights" does not appear in our team name anywhere, but we certainly use the mascot extensively.... We also flaunt our school colors (red and yellow). I believe that an association with the school colors and mascot helps us to be a better part of the school community. When we do get non-robotics students to our matches, the can quickly find/identify us and can generally recognize our robot so they know for whom to cheer - even if they barely know what's going on. It also helps with outreach and fundraising in our community. |

Our team didn't have a name last year, they just called by our only sponser, Baldor. But since our school mascot is a cardinal we decided to call ourselves "The Nerdy Birds" since it was both clever and goes with our school, we have pretty much the mascot and colours and everything.
