BBQ FIRST Website Reveal

Inspired by this thread, I created a website called BBQ FIRST to display blue banner related information all in one place.

BBQ FIRST currently can be used to find BBQ(Blue Banner Quotient) and SAUCE(Sextuple Advancement Uniform Counting Era), with the possibility of additional statistics metrics in the future. The website also shows rankings by BBQ and SAUCE, in case you were interested in finding the "Strongest" competitions like those in this thread.

Check it out here: bbqfirst.x10host.com

Happy BBQing!

Looks pretty good, thanks for making this.

Future Feature suggestions
- Ability to sort on the event pages. It would be nice to be able to sort by blue banners.
- Show where the banners came from on the team pages. If I see a team with a couple banners it would be nice to click and see quickly what they were for.

I dont know the depth of this, but just from the data I know offhand some data is missing. It looks like some of the 2005 data is missing.

As I've been working on this project I have noticed that the further back I've gone in years, lesser data is given by TBA. What did you notice that is missing? I would like to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Those are some good ideas! I will make sure to implement them in the near future.

This is awesome - hopefully we'll find more comestible statistics soon.

After looking into this some more, it looks like Orlando 2005 is missing an awards section on TBA, which would naturally lead to some banner loss.

The whole event seems to be messed up, with the Pink team appearing in 3 of the Eliminations Alliances, along with 2 6-team alliances against each other in the semifinals.

TBA link

Hopefully, TBA can fix this. Until then, there is not much I can do.

Re: BBQ FIRST Website Reveal

I do believe that you have some data issues other than one 2005 event, just looking at my old high school team (766), the blue banners count has issues. Your site has 766 with one banner. However, the team was part of two winning alliances while I was a student (2011 sacramento, 2012 svr) and has wins both before and after. I checked TBA and they have the wins recorded, so either what you have considered as banners does not match with me and should be made more clear, or something is causing malfunctions with the data between what I see on TBA and what I see on your website.

I am not sure if this is a localized event or not, but I thought that it should be made known. I did notice that some of TBA's data was missing, although this does not account for the loss of quite a number of banners.

EDIT:

I was just changing the years and noticed that the number of banners changes with the year. It seems that 2015 is acting strange.

Re: BBQ FIRST Website Reveal

So in response to wilful, it looks as if the 2011 and 2015 data scripts did not complete correctly for some teams. This is mainly due to an error that occurred when I ran multiple scripts at once, and the error has been resolved for 2011, but I am still working on 2015.

This error will be resolved shortly. The site may go down for 2-3 minutes so that I can update the data, but it will be accurate, which is what matters.

Re: BBQ FIRST Website Reveal

Also, to avoid any confusion, the website not only does year by year banners, but also does week by week banners. This ensures that all banners were earned before the regional that the BBQ is being calculated for. If your team has less banners for a past event, this may be the cause.

Darn, I saw the thread title and was hoping for a listing of all good bbq joints within close proximity of each FRC event.

Any chance we can get a team rankings section for overall BBQ and overall BBQ by year?

842 has zero blue banners? I think there might be a few issues with BBQ....
