This is a blog about a game hint. It’s not a game hint itself.

Our friends at FRC Top 25 contacted us a few weeks ago and said how cool it would be if they could build a show around a game hint. We thought it would be cool too. After some back and forth about how we could get it to work, here’s the deal:

FRC Top 25 will be premiering a game hint on a special episode of their webcast at 9PM eastern on Monday, 12/22. They will have a pre-show before a hint is revealed, starting at 8:30PM eastern. I’ll be on the pre-show for a short time in advance of the release just to talk about our game hint philosophy and maybe why we’re taking this new approach to releasing a hint this year. I will not be talking about the game itself – this hint should give you plenty to talk about, if it’s something you’re interested in, on its own.

After this hint is released, the FRC Top 25 team will have some fun things planned around the hint, with special guests participating. Check their website later for more details.

Just after this game hint is released on FRC Top 25, we’ll be putting it up on the FRC Blog as well under the title ‘This is a game hint’. But, the best place to see this hint first will be on the special FRC Top 25 show.

We’re hoping this approach brings some additional fun to this hint. Hey, I was just thinking – now that you know when this hint will be released, you could get your team together for a pre-season hint party. Get some pizza. Pepperoni, please. No Hawaiian for me, thanks*

Frank

*Seriously now, slow down, take a breath, and think about the Hawaiian pizza concept carefully – you’re putting FRUIT on PIZZA. It’s madness.

Well this is going to be fun.

Madness... Madness could also be called "Lunacy". Regolith game confirmed:D .

We all slow down quite a bit that year. My guess is trailers with a single pole on regolith and we stack inner tubes on the trailers.

On a side note I was really hoping the official hint would be released today now we wait till Monday.

Substantiated: "Madness" = Lunacy = Regolith simulating ice

Today's Twist: "Hawaii" - Surfing...

Conclusion: Hockey on Surfboards!

I suppose if Michigan pizza is all you know, then sure  . Real pizza does not have sweet fruit on it. Nor salad, for that matter.

On the other hand, Pepperoni is not as healthy, say, as peppers & onions. So here I have to disagree with Frank. I propose we settle this like men: He eats half a Pepperoni pizza, I eat half a Peppers & Onions pizza, then we see who is happier. The gauntlet has been thrown!

Proper pizza is also thin, the kind you get at Lombardi's or any of the number of Ray's, be it the Original, Famous, Original Famous, Famous Original, etc etc etc. That stuff from the Windy City is a casserole, not a Pizza. #nycnjpride

When I was a youngster, I encountered a Chicago Deep Dish offering from a place named Lou Malnati's. It was the best pizza I had ever tasted. It remained the best in my memory for a very long time. Then in 2004 I attended the Midwest FRC Regional with the TechnoKats. Pizza was served at the team social. The first bite brought that memory right to the front, and I wanted to tell everyone nearby that it tasted just like the best pizza I had ever had.

A few minutes later I saw the Lou Malnati's name on the pizza boxes being brought in by the catering crew, and I was very happy. It is still the best pizza I have ever tasted.

While everyone else is talking about pizza preferences, I just want to say that I think the reveal concept is really cool. It's awesome to see FRC collaborating with the community on a variety of things. GameSense had the opportunity to produce Behind The Lines with FRC, and now FRCTop25 is releasing the game hint. Kudos to Mike and Justin for pitching with the idea, I'm looking forward to the show!

Agreed! We (1551) owe much of what we can call success to 340 (as well as 1511, without whom we wouldn't have made it past our first season), and it's awesome to see Mike and Justin all grown up and kicking butt! :D

Hawaii has six letters.
There have been two build seasons since Rebound Rumble.
6 ÷ 2 = 3
There were three shapes of tube in Logomotion.
Those tubes were originally meant to be used as pool toys.
What are there at pools? Lifeguards, who carry whistles.
Who else uses whistles? Referees.
This year's game has the volunteers playing a game while our robots referee.

It is well known that New Haven is the home of the best pizza, Pepe's or Sally's? individual preference, ok.

New york is great also.

hot oven, thin crust, know how to fold it.

Leave the pineapple etc on the west coast (no offense - great robots over there)

Re: [FRC Blog] About the Game Hint

First, pineapple and jalapeno is the best pizza topping combination.

Second, I completely agree with Evan's post earlier: it's awesome that FIRST is announcing the game hint with FRC Top 25. It shows an openness that Frank and FIRST has with the community. It also shows a mutual trust, we trust FIRST to give us a fun time figuring out the hint and they trust us, i.e. FRC Top 25, to put on a good show releasing it.

I'm hoping this leads to more involvement of teams in official FIRST events like Kickoff, announcing awards at competitions, and sideline commentating at Champs.

I, for one, am very excited for the announcement.

Pizza: for me, supreme/works/etc. is my choice... I like my toppings. Pineapple not so much. Tomato on the other hand, diced is a great pizza topping. As are banana peppers and jalapeno.

BBQ /buffalo chicken pizza is another favorite. Or Just veggie pizza.

Pizza is awesome. Case Closed.

Tabasco and Crystal brand are both great. If you're looking for something a little less vinegary and with a little more substance, this is one of my favorites:

I'm partial to a thin-crust white garlic pizza with tomato, artichoke, and smoked ghost chile powder.

For hot sauce on regular pizza, many of the sauces from Tropical Pepper Company, or from Heartbreaking Dawns, are excellent.

Wow, this thread's gone rather far afield, hasn't it?!?

I'd have to say my all-time favorite pizza is this:

It's the Dr. Dre from Dewey's Pizza here in Dayton. It has "Olive oil, Mozzarella Cheese, Green Peppers, Red Onions, Amish Chicken, Bacon, and Jalapenos with Diced Tomatoes and Ranch after the bake"

Re: [FRC Blog] About the Game Hint

Personally, I like mine with just cheese and tomatoes, though that's also good with basil. Or Hawaiian. Actually, I ordered a pizza the other day with tomatoes, basil, pineapple, ham, and ground beef on it (thanks Blaze pizza!). It was good.

Okay, so, somehow we went from talking about a game hint to talking about... pizza?

No, wait, this is even better:

I'm usually a cheese purist, but Hot Lips Pizza here in Portland has a BBQ chicken/bacon/spinach pizza that's just about irresistible.

There's a place near me that makes a Pastrami pizza and a Big Mac pizza....both equally amazing...

When in Lee's Summit for the Cowtown Throwdown my team stopped at an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet that served surprisingly good fettuccini alfredo pizza, with the pasta taking the place of cheese and toppings.

That said, you can't go wrong with pepperoni, bacon, and sausage pizza.
