This is a really nice design. What is the large gear that turns the unit resting on?

Aren can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is a Silverthin bearing.

So the drive shaft goes through the large steering gear well off-axis? That's certainly different, but it saves a second set of bevel gears.

I still don't see how the robot weight is supported. The wheel supports its axle which supports brackets which support the large steering gear, but there I lose it; neither the cim bearing nor the planetary bearing appears to be oriented correctly to support the robot weight.

I'm still confused about this as well, but think the intent was that the discussion would stay in the other thread.
