RIP in Peace Dozer
2003 - 2015 Beloved game animation and treasured friend to the FIRST community. Born in a stacking game, died in a stacking game. Rest in peace, little guy. ![]() |
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
RIP in pepperonis.

Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
He was missed this year!!!
|
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
First thought at Kickoff: Where's the bulldozer?
|
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
This little guy was one of my biggest concerns during the animation. You're missed, Plowie. FIRST isn't the same without ya.
|
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
I think he has retired to Key West.
|
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
RIP dozer!:(
|
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
Roses are red,
dozers are blue. RIP buddy we'll miss you. |
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
One year where dozer had the best advantage he was retired.

He was a real hero. He was a true...patriot.

Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
It looks like he could be useful in cleaning up "litter" thrown by other teams.

Rest in peace in peace? :P

Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
I made the classic "Oh-oh" noise when this year's robot crumbled in the animation.
Didn't someone build him in real life? |
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
I don't like the realisticness of the animation. I'm can deal with Dave not wanting to do it anymore, I can survive without the iconic dozer bot or bubbler bot, but I don't think an animation to describe the game should be so realistic. I enjoyed suspending belief when looking at the crazy impossible robots that helped show games in the past.

The quintessential unsung FIRST hero.

Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
Unfortunately the rules prohibited Plowie's greatest potential in this game.
Pushing all the crates into one side of the field so nothing can move over there. I have this picture of a field of crates and robots that can't escape  Maybe he's just dozing somewhere? |
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
Oh, Dozer. I will always love you. Miss ya, buddy.

RIP in peace? Someone has RAS Syndrome
|
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
there was another robot that had a similar purpose to dozers, but it was on the red alliance and had no plow.
|
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
I honestly strongly disliked the animation this year. I liked the old style so much more. RIP Dozer. Yes folks. It's Dozer. Not Plowie.

If anyone noticed the robots also had the old control systems as the electrical system. If they make the robots more realistic why not include the new control system.:D

Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
We all need to wear RIP Dozer buttons to competition.
|
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
We need Dave's animations back!!!
This new animation looks, to be honest, quite low quality. It was also super confusing. I've never appreciated the old animation style for its clarity until it disappeared :( |

I do hope he comes back next year. But he'd be perfect for totes--he pushes and has no bumpers!

Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
Even if Dave doesn't want to do it any more, I feel the models and style should be passed on to an apprentice. It simply doesn't feel like FRC without that animation.

The FRC game animation will never be the same without Dozer and his crew.
Dave Lavery's style and creativity will always be the standard by which future game animations will be judged. LONG LIVE DOZER! ![]() |

There's this fella named LeBron. Sometimes people call him Kobe. Both names refer to professional basketball players, so they're interchangeable, right?

Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
In full respect of Dave Lavery's very missed animation creation, and after careful consideration and much feeling of embarrasement, and now fully corrected on Dozer's proper "namen-clature", & after having previously posted in another thread here recently. "The 2015 FRC Dream" of the 10 Tethered "Plowies" (all Grey Tote pusher bots and Litter Collectors & movers), all exiting from their main bot on the field in the Landfill Zone & all stored in their Lexan Mini "Plowie" Display case off the field).....I will now go find the thread & post, and ammend and change all "Mini-Plowies" listed, to the proper name of "Mini-Dozer's", wherever it be found.
"Dozer" will not be missed in the 2015 FRC Edition of "Recycle RUSH", as there will be an actual army of "Mini-Dozer's"...Dozer's many children, so to speak. (Though, how that all happened biologically without a proper robo mate,....I will of course, leave that explanation to some of your High School Biology Teachers' to even begin, to attempt to explain later). That army of 10 Mini Dozer's will be feeding, feeding, feeding, and feeding more, our very trusted & merciless fellow Alliance Stackers from all directions possible. Long Live DLavery's Dozer!:yikes: |
Re: RIP in Peace Dozer
As a FIRSTer, I always enjoyed the old game animations. But ever try to show it to someone who isn't part of FIRST? I tried last year and people thought it strange and stupid, and I had to explain that the robots look impractical to not give away any ideas. This years game animation, being much more realistic, was treated much better by the muggles. In the end the animation isn't supposed to be for us, the manual is.
With all that said, I will always have a special place in my heart for Dozer. *sniff* |
