roboRIO Imaging Tool

according to screensteps, there should be a National Instruments/Labview 2014/ folder. I only have a National Instruments/Labview 2013 with nothing in it but an .ini file. I have the 2014 driver station, dashboard, etc. but I don't have that folder. I am a Java user so I didn't install the LabView update. Do I have to install LabView to use the imaging tool?

Re: roboRIO Imaging Tool

You don't need lab view to use the imaging tool. But you need to use the lab view CD to instal the driver station, Smart DB and imaging tool.

I used the internet installer because our team was taking inventory and it worked fine in previous years. It gave me the driver station and smart db. Was the imaging tool seriously not included in the internet version?

Re: roboRIO Imaging Tool

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\project\roboRIO

Did you follow this? Are you sure you checked in the C drive not H drive or other.

There is two different installers, both found here.

The "NI Software for 2015" is the same as the install dvd. It contains LabView and is only required for LabView teams.

The "FRC 2015 Update Suite" is only available online. Every team is required to install this for the RoboRIO imaging tool, Radio imaging tool, and Driver Station.

but... no.. the update suite doesn't contain the roboRIO imaging tool... atleast thats what I downloaded. Same with our classmate, it has the driver station and sd but no imaging tools

It does have it. Check "Program Files (x86)" instead of "Program Files". Confused me at first too.

(for anyone skimming to the last post not reading the above posts, the only thing inside of the LabView 2013 folder is a .ini file)

Interesting. It is present on my computer, and I only installed the update. Windows 7 x64. Also worked on Windows 8.1 x64. Did you uninstall the prior LabVIEW/driver station stuff?

Oh, I installed the LabVIEW update from the NI update thing. However, I did not install the actual LabVIEW DVD.

I thought so, you installed the labview update.

So, yes, the FRC 2015 Update Suite does NOT contain the tools necessary to flash the roboRIO and router, contrary to it's specification, unless someone is 100% positive that they used the update suite (the one on the right) and recieved these tools.

The DVD should not be required unless you're programming in LabVIEW.

I think you're right that the docs are wrong. However, I definitely used the update suite and NOT the full LabVIEW install. You can install the LabVIEW update, even if you don't have LabVIEW installed.

Re: roboRIO Imaging Tool

Let me see if I understand. You downloaded the FRC 2015 Update Suite from http://www.ni.com/download/first-rob...-2015/5112/en/. Then, during installation when the product list was displayed, you deselected LabVIEW update.
