Noodles inside of Recycling Bins
 

With my understanding of the rules it is perfectly legal to insert a noodle completely into a bin where it is no longer visible. Do you think there will be scoring issues at competition if noodles are fully contained by a bin?

How are you going to put the noodle all the way in, so that it is hidden, without damaging the noodle (or the bin)?

Yes.

There are actually 3 problems here. 1 is that the noodle can't be seen easily, thus it'll be harder for the refs to score. 2 is that Field Reset can't get it out easily... they're likely to just toss another noodle to replace it. Then the noodle is still in the can, which will make the next alliance's life miserable if they try to put one in.

And 3 is that you may get a penalty for damage, but that's highly situationally-dependent.

The noodles arent damaged from our testing but Id like to see what they say on Q and A. They are a little tricky to get back out but very doable.

Without removing the lid?

Also bear in mind that someone tying a pool noodle in a knot is considered damage.


But, the bigger problem is that the refs probably won't see the noodle, and thus you'll lose out on 6 points. When you go to the box, you'll have to have some pretty good evidence that the noodle was in there all along...

Give it a try they just end up curling up inside. But i feel like if its such a detriment to the refs there should be a rule against it.

How much force are you applying to the noodle so that it curls completely inside the bin?

Not much its essentially the force it takes to make the ends of the noodle meet except you're squishing it from one direction so theres a little bit more due to friction.

Honesty, I wouldn't put them in that far. It will be very hard for field reset to get the noodles out because the lids are zip-tied shut. I doubt there is a rule against it, but I still wouldn't do it.

I can see the refs accepting it as scored once if it was accidental, but they're likely to get mad if you use it as a strategy. It would be hard to do with a robotic mechanism, anyway (assuming you aren't using this as a strategy).

Tell a Field Reset person which RC has Litter in it. The Field Reset person can then let the Ref know.

We played with that a bit. The noodle goes in easily without damage, but it's wiggly when removed. It can be grabbed by rotating one's hand around the underside of the lid, after reaching in the center hole a short distance.

We eventually decided that noodles are too noodly to bother with for now.

After managing a field last year....I beg of you to not do that....They only allocated 1 minute or so to the field reset crew this year from what I read recently (sure, with a small army or 2 maybe, and zero carpet & line damage)....That is a whole lot of weight in totes/bins alone that will be pushed and carried around as is, for literally hours on end, day after day....You put it in there, you be prepared to pull it back out of there....LOL.

Do you think they are going to fall out? 2/3'rds. of them are inside the container as is. Just lock it into the notch in the lid then. (one certainly hopes that it isn't the human player sticking their hand through that small hole at the human player station)...That would not fly.

Why hide the accomplishment....Especially if it is sitting on top of a 6 bin stack! Let your Scored Litter stand out proudly.

Rules say only 1 noodle per Recycle Container. So i don't think there is any benefit to cramming it in farther.

And also, having been a ref in the chaos that was last year's game, don't count on the refs double checking all your cans for stuffed noodles. A lot is going on at the end of a match, and it's not going to go well if you show up in the question box after every single match saying the refs missed your noodle score because you shoved it into a can.
