cRIO Imaging Tool

For the life of me I can't find the cRIO imaging tool in the newest version of LabVIEW available on ni.com/frc

Can anyone reply with a path to get to the application please?

Re: cRIO Imaging Tool

Should be in

RoboRIO:
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\project\roboRIO Tool\

cRIO:
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\project\CRIO Tool

If you are using LabVIEW you can find all the tools on the Utilities tab of the Getting Started menu.

On 64-bit computers: C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\project\roboRIO Tool\roboRIO_ImagingTool.exe

On 32-bit computers: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\project\roboRIO Tool\roboRIO_ImagingTool.exe

Thank you, cgmv123.

To The Powers That Be,

Please add desktop shortcuts to your installation package. I presume if you can do it for the Driver Station, it can be done for all other programs and utilities.

Maybe it's to force people to read the documentation.

I'm pretty sure they have to do that regardless.

Learning a new control system is hard and time consuming enough. Heaven forbid those with the capability take the extra steps to do the "little things" that help make people's lives a little easier. ;)

I dislike installers that put shortcuts on my desktop. Please don't "help" me with that kind of clutter. Let me add shortcuts myself if I want to.

Would a Start Menu item be acceptable? Less clutter, still easier to find.
That wasn't provided either.

While releasing roboRIO, we discovered that there were new guidelines for installers. We asked for some variances, but most of the Start and desktop shortcuts were removed to meet those new guidelines.

We will listen to the feedback and try to incorporate it next year. Please put your comments on the NI forums as well, as those will probably be easier to track and reference eight months from now.

I would submit it's easier to delete shortcuts (or add them to a shortcuts folder) than it is to

A.) not overlook the one line referencing the path in the extensive documentation (better extensive than too short, but a few things could be streamlined).

B.) Copy said path.

C.) Right click desktop and add new shortcut.

D.) Paste shortcut.

E.) Name shortcut.

F.) Repeat for things like the bridge config utility, etc.

That being said, perhaps desktop shortcuts can be specified as an option, or at least have something appear in the start menu? Greg - thanks for the explanation. Hopefully some form of flexibility can be restored in future releases.

What a great idea. What documentation? I have not been able to find information about what process to use to setup the RoboRIO. Lots of notes from other teams. What did I miss. Please make me feel silly.
