Week 0 events

So, what events are happening during week 0 this year and where?

303 will most likely be hosting something for MAR and anyone else who would like to come at our practice field.

I've heard rumors of one using an official FiM field, don't remember where though. Maybe Kettering?

The Stormbots are hosting a Week Zero event in Chanhassen, Minnesota on Feb. 15: http://www.stormbots4778.com/week-zero.html

We have the bleachers out for student seating, the field itself, and pit space for 24 teams in our large gym. Also have access to the Chanhassen High School wood/metal shops.

Re: Week 0 events

FIRST Force of the Oregon Mid-Williamette valley will be hosting an unoffical (if there are any official week 0 events) Week 0 scrimmage in Corvallis Oregon.

The event will be happening at Corvallis High School
The event happens 'Week 0' Feb 14, 2015
Doors will open for load-in at 8am and the field will open at 9am.

We have planning on having the odd hours (i.e. 10, 12, ...) with open field time to allow teams to work on the field for system tuning and running matches as possible during the odd hours.

Currently this will be a 'team' field and not an official field, but will be a full size field.

Please go to the [url="http://or-firstforce.org/"]FIRST Force Web site] for more information as the season progresses and to register for the event.

Enjoy!

That is correct and FIRST and team 166 out of Merrimack High School will be hosting the Week Zero event again this year.

If you're in the area, stay tuned for details.

Update on the event: We'll be having one of the Indiana LRI's there to help teams do pre-inspection to make it easier for the first event. My team also made robot/FIRST-themed valentines to hand out. You should totally come just for those!

Any details on this Kettering week 0 event? If it works out I might push my team to go.

This year at the Rochester Rally Week Zero Event we will be trying to run matches. Additionally we will be doing a dry run of our new video scouting system; we will try to tape matches. We could potentially post them online if there is interest from people on CD.

I second this inquiry. What days/times is the field open, and is there a RSVP or can we just show up?

We loaded the AndyMark Field into the pod tonight to be shipped to Suffield on Friday. We will once again be running FMS Lite. Matt Simpson will be the FTA & I will once again be Field Super. Looking forward to a great day & hope all who can show will show up. I understand that the weather has been dealing some wild cards & hope that everyone has been playing it safe. Good luck to everyone & can't wait to set up Field Friday night.

We planned on having one, but parts of the plan fell through and we don't have the space for one. I've heard rumors of 2832 and 548 having ones nearby.

I'm interested in those videos.

I would caution you to make sure the teams are okay with their robot being recorded and posted to the internet.

Thanks for reminding me of this. I'll probably have to post some or all of the videos after the Top25 Premiere Night (Feb 23). I'll fairly certain Mike and Justin will be at Rally so I'll ask them about it.

I think he was referring to the fact that you should ask the teams themselves if they are okay with their robots being posted, not just Mike and Justin.

Funny you should ask. The Southern California Regional Robotics Forum will be holding their annual Pre-Bag Scrimmage at Harvey Mudd College this coming Saturday, 2/14 and Sunday 2/15. Rookie teams get in free.

Full details and Registration details can be found here:

Re: Week 0 events

Thank you to 2472 (Centurions) and 2052 (KnightKrawlers) for hosting today's week Zero Event at Centennial HS. There was some great competition there as always. In fact, all but two MN State Champion teams were in attendance... 2169, 3883, 2052, 2175 and 4607.

There were a lot of strong teams in attendance including perennial powerhouse 3313 (10000 Lakes Champs and Chairman's Winners) and 2846 (Minne-Mini Champs).

3130 Errors had the best robot in attendance with the robot making stacks of 4 all day with ease and had a few 36 point stacks as well. 2181 (GEARs) and 3038 ICE) also had impressive showings.

Rookie Team 5542 (Roboherd) made quite a splash - who knew a Rookie Team could have that many members?

Looking forward to Week 1!

Agreed that you should always consult with teams before sharing their videos. Just to be clear over at FRCTOP25 we have changed the rules a bit this year based on all the feedback we got last year. They are more lenient to allow teams to show preliminary videos.

Check the rules out at http://www.frctop25.com/premiere-night-2015/
