Unlimited Cooperatition Points

I just made a Chief Delphi account because I think I found a way to get a TON of points. :yikes:

(Everything below here can be found under 3.1.2.2 of the FRC game manual.)

Cooperatition stack requirement C:
Quote:

the entire structure is free from contact from ROBOTS for a least three (3) seconds
Last paragraph of 3.1.2.2:
Quote:

points for a ... COOPERTITION STACK are awarded instantly upon successful completion.
It looks like to me you can make a Cooperatition Stack, let it stand for three seconds, and then take it down and rebuild it for 40 more points!
Please let me know what you think.

Sounds sort of valid, maybe it was intended, but I think 'unlimited' is not the case, since those 3 seconds add up and eventually you run out of time.

Re: Unlimited Cooperatition Points

It seems you are misinterpreting the way in which Coopertition is scored: once per match, very much like the bridge in 2012. The wording of the manual in its discussion of Coopertation supports this.

Quote:

Coopertition Points are awarded if, at some point in the Match, there are at least four Yellow Totes on the Step simultaneously. Coopertition Points are doubled if the Alliances arrange at least four of those Yellow Totes in a single stack on the Step.
Emphasis mine.

The 20 or 40 points are awarded on a once per match basis if the conditions were met at some point and for at least 3 seconds in that match, and not per instance of stack formed.

Additionally, the field status light will turn white once a stack has been reached. The match display will also display a symbol indicating the set or stack has been reached.

Yeah, while the rules never explicitly say "Coopertition points will be scored at a maximum of 40 points", its clear to see that this is what they meant. Its good that you guys are thinking about these sorts of things though.

OK technically it not unlimited. :)

Link07, Where does it say that in the rules?

The blue box text after Figure 3-2 says that an alliance can get points for either a coopertition set or a coopertition stack in match.

Re: Unlimited Cooperatition Points

Adding on to what others have said, it is clear that this was the intent of the game.

Quote:

If points are awarded for a COOPERTITION SET and a COOPERTITION STACK is formed at a later time in the MATCH, the COOPERTITION SET will be upgraded and instead awarded points for a COOPERTITION STACK.
Quote:

ALLIANCES can earn points for either a COOPERTITION STACK or a COOPERTITION SET in a MATCH, but not both.
So are you suggesting that you can get an unlimited amount of EITHER STACKS or SETS, but not a mix of the two? If I have 5 different instances of SETS, are they ALL upgraded if I later make a STACK? I hardly think that this is the GDC's intent at all.

Like I said, you are correct in that the manual does not explicitly state that a COOPERTITION STACK can be awarded points multiple times. That doesn't mean its going to be scored that way. I mean, just look at the new scoreboard design. Obviously they only intend to award a max of 40 points for any coopertition. Honestly after Frank sees this thread I'm sure we'll see a Team Update on it.

So what, I could do unlimited stacks, but the instant I have a set there one of the two is nullified? Once again, I know this doesn't totally refute what you're saying, but the intention of that sentence is clear. As for the emphasis of the 'a' in the sentence, technically we're only taking about one stack scored multiple times, so it would still technically work with that lawyer logic.

Yeah, not gonna happen :/

Pretty much.

I would suggest submitting your question to the Q&A then, if you don't think that the information in this thread proves (or, at least, heavily implies) your proposal to be non-viable.

If your game strategy is to just continuously get Coopertition points in the match, I guarantee you will be quickly disappointed at your first event.

Oh no, that's not my teams strategy; I just thought it was interesting that there was nothing that said you couldn't do it.

Re: Unlimited Cooperatition Points

:ahh:
This will probably not be legitimate, because if this is possible, the COOPERTITION spamming, then nothing else in the game will matter. Everyone will be focused on stacking, there will be no variety, and these factors would probably make this season the least diverse of them all.
