Dean Kamen on Jay Leno

I just saw the commercials that Dean Kamen will be on Jay Leno. I am tapping it, and if it worth it digitize it. He will be explaining the Segway, and maybe FIRST.

when?

Last night. It didn't talk about FIRST, but it was a nice brief interview on Kamen himself. He brought Segway and Russel Crow and Jay Leno were having kind of a weird gladiator fight. I have it on tape. And will digitize it when I come home if anyone is interested.

I was impressed with how fast Crow could learn how to drive it.

It was clear that he had never seen the device before getting on it on national TV (he was late for his segment and basically ran on to the set as Leno was about to call Dean on early -- Leno was literally introducing Dean when he switched back to introducing Crow).

In any case, Crow was up and riding in seconds. Very impressive.

I'm interested in you giving me a digitalized copy. Just send it to me via e-mail. My team will probably be interested in seeing it.

Got it digitize

If you want the video segment, and you didn't see it last night, I have it on a .MOV Intel Inudeo 5.0 codec. Give me a private PM, and I will discuss the details.

Impressive indeed, especially since Crowe was either drunk or he just woke up (I'm guessing the first one).

I had to laugh last night when Dean was on Leno. He invents a machine thats suposed to save a lot of walking and all Dean did was "RUN" though out the entire program. Did any one detect a little fear from Dean as these guests were racing all over the stage, can you imagin if one of these riders had an accident on national TV while riding "IT".
It did seem that these people picked up the gist of using the Segway very fast but Dean did seem very concerned to their driving??? Leno even told Dean to "Go find his own IT"and even slaped his hand away, so even Jay noticed his worry. Dean will have to trust his invention to strangers because he wont be there next to every client that buys one when they start to sell them to the public.
Just my thoughts.

it must be very easy to drive

The other night local TV had a segment on Segway and they showed the reporter driving it in a hallway and then through a doorway with no problem. It must be pretty intuitive if she was able to do that with little or no practice.

They also showed someone tipping it from one wheel to the other (I think to address the reporter's question about Michigan potholes), and it looked really stable. Impressive.

I'd still hate to get run over by one on the sidewalk...

Druck Crow, ha ha

I thought is was interesting that Crow learned pretty quickly and he WAS drunk, you could really tell. I could tell that Dean was scared too, he was running after Crow the whole time and it was Crow that told Dean to go find his own, he said he could handled, it was funny how Crow said something to Dean that NBC dubbed out with a BEEP. I hope we can ride one when we go to competition, I really want to ride one of those things!!!
