Omni Drive train

Can we replace regular wheels with omni wheels in the standard chassis or are there other special parts we need?

That depends. If you use 4" omni wheels there is nothing special you will need to do. If you use larger wheels you may need to purchase new belts.

It depends on what type/size of wheels you are using. If you elaborate what you are intending to use, we can better help you. Our team is using 6" Vex Pro omnis, And no, it isn't a simple swap. Neither are the 6" aluminum ones from AndyMark. I would recommend downloading the STEP file of the kit chassis from AndyMark, and then see how the omni wheels of your choice would fit. Watch our for the rollers intersecting with the belts. You will need to figure out some sort of spacers.

ok I am using the 4" wheels but when I modeled it in Solidworks the middle wheel seemed like it was too big to fit

Are you trying to achieve omni-directional motion, or just improve your skid steer turning?

I just posted our spacer/adapter here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:642155

These adapt the vex wheel pattern to the AM pulleys in the KOP, and space it so the belt clears the wheel. We still needed to adjust the axle spacers to keep the vex wheels from rubbing.
