Cheesy Poofs 4-0 at Regionals

Posted by Joe Johnson at 03/21/2001 9:48 AM EST

Engineer on team #47, Chief Delphi, from Pontiac Central High School and Delphi Automotive Systems.

I just got around to checking up on how the other regionals this past weekend.

One thing that jumped out at me is that 254 has won yet another regional.

If I am not mistaken that makes them 4 and 0 in regional play! They have won EVERY regional they attended (one in 1999, two in 2000, and one so far in 2001).

This is an unbelieveable feat.

Hats off and well done to the Cheesy Poof team.

Good luck this weekend. Can you possibly go 5 and 0? Time will tell...

Joe J.

Believe me...

The Cheesy Poof will not be facing easy competition this weekend...

It's going to take a certain well balanced robot to stop them from winning again...

Joe,

First off, thanks for thinking of our team and accomplishments so highly! I know me and my fellow teammates are definitely going to do our best this weekend, but like Ken says, there is going to be some VERY tough competition at San Jose. I guess we will just have to wait and see. Hopefully you will be there at San Jose? Either way, thanks again, hope to see everyone at San Jose!

Good luck in San Jose, but keep it under 700!

San Jose competitors,

Have fun at this weekends' competition, and good luck. I got to meet many of you this past weekend in LA, and was VERY impressed by all of the high quality teams on the west coast.

As for the scores in San Jose, keep it down out there... we don't want ANY matches over 700! Also, that finals score needs to be under 620.

If you guys play nice and keep it low, I get to eat TWICE on Jason Morrella's dime in Disney... I'm thinking of one night at the Rainforest Cafe, and another at the German Brewhouse in Epcot. Yum! And Jason will get to sit next to my 16-month-old daughter!

Realistically, there are some scary combinations of robots that will be able to pull this 700 (or higher!) round off in SJ... I just hope that they don't happen to get together and do it!

Andy,
It was really cool to talk to you in LA, my team has put in lots of time practicing at home this past weekend and we're ready for our hometown regional in SJ. I'm not sure if we'll be able to break 700, but it's going to be funny to see how your bet with Jason works out. Good luck to your team in your regional this weekend, and I hope to see you in Florida.

-Bill, 258

Good and bad news Andy.....

The good news is that Jason has not shared his 700 requirement with the team. Therefore, I like your odds.

The bad news is that he has been stuck with my 12-month-old daughter for the past few months and has handled it quite well. So, you may not get the response you are looking for by sitting him next to your daughter. I suggest you take away his IV; that may provide better entertainment.

Good luck to all this weekend.
