Difference Between Default / C++ Dahsboards? [Camera Settings and Display]
What is the difference between the default dashboard and the C++ (or other flavor) dashboards?
We have not been able to get the live camera feed to work (USB camera) when using the C++ dashboard but it works fine with the default dashboard. Our team has researched on CD and found the few recent threads on similar camera issues and made all those changes with no effect yet. Last night we uninstalled 64 bit Java and re-installed 32 bit Java and Eclipse and that didn't work, either. We are programming in C++, the RoboRio sees the camera, and we can get a video feed when using the default dashboard but not the C++ dashboard. Instead, we get the "...huffman table..." error message on the dashboard. What's the difference (should I be using one over the other), and how do I fix this? |

We had the exact same issue (only using java) using the Simple Vision example. Finally made it work in the Java dashboard by using the Intermediate Vision example and simply deleting the extras about the vision processing.
Hope this helps! |

Hi Doug - If you ever do manage to get a USB camera working with the C++ dashboard please update this thread. Our experience over the last few days mirrors yours.
Our decision on how to proceed was helped this afternoon by the discovery of several Axis cameras hiding on a top shelf. We had no problems getting the IP cameras working with the C++ dashboard, so that is how we will be proceeding. In the future I would much prefer using a $30 USB camera though. |
