Driver Station Freezing

Hey i am having a problem with the driver station. it keeps on freezing up after i click on something on the driver station. i don't have McAfee on my computer, and the windows firewall is allowing the driver station to work. what do you guys suggest?

What version of windows are you running? How much RAM does the computer have? What processor does the computer have? I don't necessarily think any of those are the problem, but our driver station did the same and it was due to too weak of a processor.

we have two computers with the same problem. both are windows 8.1 but one is a A8 quadcore with 6 gigs of RAM and the other is i5 with 8 gigs of RAM.

Well then I guess none of the things I said are your problem then. What exactly are you clicking when it freezes?

Jonathan-

Are you connected to the robot while doing this? Either over USB, Ethernet, or Wifi?

I was having similar issues on my personal laptop. I uninstalled the driver station software, then reinstalled the driver station and the update suite, and that fixed it.

Several people have had issues with McAfee interfering with the driver station and causing freezing.

I believe neither computer has McAfee installed.

Dear CD,

My driver station has locked up as well a number of times. I have found it is related to downloading new programs (run as startup) and dashboard changes.
I have not isolated the issue precisely, however, turning off the bench via the 120 A breaker after closing the stalled driver station, waiting for the cRIO to "wake up' and then starting the FRC driver station sequence has worked for me every time.

Sorry I don't have a precise answer for you, but, sometimes knowing others are having the same issue is good enough for the moment.

I do have McAfee corporate security software on the laptop PC I am using to program the cRIO at home.

Are you referring to the actual cRIO, or the new roboRIO?
