Solutions for preventing encoder loss during brownout
 

There was some talk in this thread about issues with loosing encoder count during a brownout condition. I also noticed that 971 had some pictures on their Picasa album(the pictures seem to be no longer up) of a RoboRio breakout board containing what looks like a buck-boost converter powering their DIO.

Has anyone done any testing with a secondary power supply for the DIO? While I realize their are software solutions to this problem I'd rather fix it at the source.
