Compressor working during disabled?

My team is using Java, and we need the compressor to work during disabled. We tried putting code in disabled periodic, but it does not work. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Also, is it legal to charge our tanks while queuing up for a match, or while in the pits?

You cannot run the compressor while the robot is disabled. If you want to charge the tanks in the queue, you need to tether the robot and enable it.

You are absolutely allowed to charge the tanks prior to a match starting, but like he said, you have to enable the robot.

The disable mode is specifically designed so that running motors is impossible.

Usually teams will charge the compressor with the battery they last played on and swap batteries in queue right before they bring the robot onto the field

Can we run a bypass switch so we can charge the compressor while we're in the queue without enabling the robot?

No, see rule R69.

No, this would make it possible to charge the system past 120psi. This is why it is required to use the the roboRIO, PCM and pressure switch to control the compressor (even if it is not located on the robot).

try programming a "test" program for the compressor switch to test on the drivers station before match to charge and dont forget to swap batteries

No, but you can start the compressor from test mode if you don't want the robot to execute either autonomous or teleop commands while you charge the tanks.
