President Bush @ Nationals

Anyone think that President Bush might come down to see his brother and Dean at the nationals and make a big appearance. I'd love to see secret service men mixed in with all the wild colors we wear. They stick out like sore thumbs. Any ideas who else might make grand appearances? Write back soon.

I'd be very surprised to see it, what with all the power tools and big dangerous robots around. Plus the teams throw stuff and running around like lunatics. On a similar note, this makes me feel even better about not letting one of our team members bring an antenna ball air cannon. Think of a cannon as big as your leg, that shoots 10 antenna balls so fast that one of the balls was dented when it hit a tree 50 feet away.....

I doubt he'll show (I don't know if Cheney has given him permission - rumor is W needs to turn in a permission slip to his 4th grade level English Grammar tutor 2 weeks in advance for any trip).

Probably for the best though - if he & his brother did show, can you imagine the odds of a Texas or Florida team being announced the National Champion when they actually scored 500 points less than the other alliance. Certainly wouldn't look good for FIRST, and the Texas and Florida teams are good enough to win straight up without any "family" help anyway.

all in good humor....relax Baker...you're still getting your dinner.
:)

Jason,

Thanks loads... now everyone knows that I'm a right-winger! :) I've had 'em all fooled up 'til now.

A few weeks ago, there was a graphic that showed G.W.'s schedule for Feb., March, and April. It showed where he would be during this time-frame, doing presidential business. I noticed that he had nothing scheduled during April 2-7. Hmmm. Maybe his schedule is open for FIRST.

Also, Jason... if you plan on winning Nationals, and your plan comes together... you're gonna have to shake the guys hand. What would be really cool is a picture of you and me with G.W. Priceless!

As for dinner... I'm thinking either Thursday night at the German brewhouse smorgasboard or Sunday night at Animal Kingdom's Rainforest Cafe... or both!

George W promised not to come because his presence
might upstage the Pope's attendance at nationals.....
at least that what he told me this morning... (This IS
the rumor forum.....)

Still it IS a possibility. There is such a need for
engineers he may decide to throw his support behind
FIRST.... BUT..... DON'T COUNT ON WINNING THE NATIONALS
AND GETTING YOUR PICTURE WITH HIM............He
wouldn't sit through the awards ceremonies (either one)
as if he had nothing better to do.

If you win you'll just have to wait for the
invitation from the white house arrives and fly your
team to Washington..........

(and he DEFINITLY wouldn't show for dinner at the
Greman Brewhouse! The reporters would have a field day!)

I know Ive said that before, but every time I think about Bush I think of that phrase. ;)

Well, I think the reason for all the speculation is because of the Wired article about FIRST a while back said Dean made W promise to come to Nats in 2001.

Why I don't think he'll come is because its such a large, open place....he might send Cheney (after all, one of Dean's inventions is inside Cheney)...

By the way! I got my media tent job back! Be sure to come visit me!

Can you imagine if Bush sent Cheney and Deans gizzmo that makes cheney tick was effected by all the teams on board CPU's. Woodie would count down 4 3 2 1 "GO" and four teams would thrust their joy sticks forward at the same time, Out of the VIP box come flying Cheney followed closly by fifty CIA men and watch in horror as cheney places 2 large balls on two goals and proceeds to balance on the ramp in 5 seconds flat......And the winner is Team Cheney and the alliance of CIA with 6000 POINTS.
The stands go wild-------------- :) a new world record.
Now that I would love to see.

If Cheney is controlled by someone else, does that mean he's not fit to serve as Pres....er....Vice-President of the United States? I mean, he's under someone else's control. Then again, that could also apply to our good friend W.

Matt who thinks anyone that wants to be President should automatically be disqualified....

Thats 'cause we had to make a layout of the pit with all the FL teams highlighted....as well as go through the match list to find which match had the most FL teams in it so Jeb could get over there & watch it.
