I love the conveyor belt system. Great robot!

How does the bin collection device work? One side looks like a fishing hook and the other looks like a tethered robot to me.

Good luck at the regional!

So cool! I love the little mini bot pushing in the RC's at 1:50! I was really hoping to see some conveyor bots!

Does that have wheels? More importantly, does it even need wheels?

I think it's my favorite bot so far. :)

Looks great, although I wish the video had mo re shots of Fetchy doing its job.

Good luck at the regional!

the fishing hook is for the autonomous bin, there's a small lift that the tethered bot (Fetchy) pushes a bin onto.

So does the robot drive over to its final spot in auto?

samfruth 17-02-2015 14:24

Re: Stretchy and Fetchy-1657 robot reveal

Are you confident that you can start with your robot in that position? My concern is that you are in the autozone at the beginning of the match.

How did you get the hook for the recycle bin on to the bin at the start of autonomous?

Very nice robot!!

The auto zone is between the Scoring Platforms, so unless their robot goes past the Scoring Platform it is legal.

No worries, entirely legal

The field drawings has the divider on the alliance station side of the scoring platform. So it would look that if they were straddling the scoring platform, theyd be in the auto zone as well.

Figure 2-8 clearly shows the Auto Zone is in between the Scoring Platforms.

Yup, the picture of a field I saw had the field tape on the wrong side. You are correct.

I hope we continue to see vastly unique designs like this throughout the coming weeks. Einstein might end up looking like a giant Rube Goldberg machine.

How are you preventing the hooks from resting on/applying downward force on the bin?

thank you everyone for all these comments!
espacially for the ones putting us on the same league as the RoboRanglers or giving us the championship before the first competition even started.
we never thaught our robot will get so much hype, and i hope it will satisfy all of you.
we'll meet the israeli teams at the Israel regional. if we win there you all could see our robot in st. louis

I really love this robot. I've always wanted to see a conveyor belt strategy pulled off since I started watching FIRST events (2010).

I would love to see this against 148, only these teams, just 1v1.

Noooo! There are going to be 4 more very lucky bots on that field every time they go out I hope.

Now, we are only missing an auto crane bot!

Re: Stretchy and Fetchy-1657 robot reveal

Fantastic work. This is an amazing strategy- and very well executed.
Two questions- can the robot push more than two stacks at once or was that just not shown because of lack of totes?
And second- just wondering how that gets folded into transport configuration.
Awesome design overall, and good luck this season!

I would also like to know how any subsequent stacks are put on the platform. It seems like a capped six stack would be knocked over very easily if you tried to push a second stack into it.

Since the whole (second) stack would be be ejected by force on the bottom tote, I would think that said tote would be the primary medium for force to be applied to the first stack. Not the only application point of force, but the upper totes will tend to just bump against each other. If you carefully push a capped 6 stack from just the bottom, it should move safely, considering the low coefficient of friction of the scoring platform

Great name, great concept, great execution. I'm curious to see how the transport configuration works - that's got to be fun.

Good luck this season!

This is terrific. We brainstormed this idea, but decided to play the game a different way. I love your implementation. Out of curiosity, how many stacks can you build at maximum throughput?

3 stacks of 6 totes, all of them with containers. We won't go for pool noodles because of the time
