Team 1444 Reveal

Complex linkages? Custom everything? More weldments than a battleship? Yup...it's gotta be the Lightning Lancers!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoLPN9_jB9k

Specs:

4 CIM, "fork truck" drive with Ackermann geometry
2 CIM, four-bar linkage lift
Passive actuating claw (conforms to both totes and RCs)

Thanks for watching!

I like it! Definitely one of the most unique robots I've seen so far. Great job 1444!

Thanks!

Forgot to mention, we will be at the St. Louis Regional, as always. :)

#DatLinkage.

Got to see your CAD when I swung by to pickup some gearbox casings (thanks by the way!) and really hoped it was all going to come together. Looks great, can't wait to see it in person at SLU. Another beefy 1444 machine!

Love the rear steer Ackerman drive.

In the video there was an upside down tote that they placed the stack on. I was hoping the robot would pick up the upside down tote/stack but the next cut had a different stack and the tote was right side up. How does it deal with the upside down ones?

Nice clean design, love how fast it is.

It looks like a person crouching down and standing up.

I love the compact design and the swerve drive! Great Job!

Thanks, guys! The whole team is very happy with it. We, too, were somewhat surprised we got the linkage to work as well as we did haha.

We are working on a couple ideas to deal with upside down totes. They will require some modification to the gripper arms, though.

What is up with that linkage.
Really good looking robot. Are you planning on adding an active intake? Is that a two-swerve two-normal drive?

I believe it's a variation on a Watt's linkage. We are considering a few options for an active intake. And yes, two-swerve, two normal drive. We've tried making our own full swerve drive in the past with limited success, so we just stuck with the half-swerve this year. Our drivers really like it.
