2015 Lake Superior Regional

63 teams are registered for the Lake superior regional. Figured I would start a thread for this since its only 4 days away. Can't wait to see all the teams up at the DECC!

This should be a fun event. It will be interesting having a week 1 event here in MN. There will be lots of people viewing these events to see how this game plays out.

I will be rooting for 1816, 2052, and 2538, 2823 since they could bring some wildcard spots to 10K Lakes. Likewise, I'll be rooting for 525, 2500, 2502, 2509, 2518, 2705, 2846, and 3026 on the other side of the arena. I'm expecting a lot of wildcards to be available at 10K because of the new wildcard rules this year.

Running a week 1 event is certainly going to be an interesting experience!check, just getting all the volunteers through training and testing in time has been tough.

I know the volunteers are all ready for it. After a history of having a field show up at midnight in the cities and building half the support structures for one of the Duluth fields from 2x4's when we were missing parts, I'm pretty sure our volunteers are some of the most experienced at improvising a way for teams to have a good time and a successful event! Plus, we'll have 5 LRI's on site. If we can't get your robot working for its first match, no one can!

Ahh, that was fun building the wooden field.

Weather looks to cooperate this year. It's going to be cold, but not unseasonably so. There's no snow in the forecast and we don't have 38 feet of snow on the ground like we did last year. I anticipate build and load in going smoothly.

And we're jinxed. I'll make sure you're the first person Laurie visits when things go wrong tomorrow!

2823 packed and on our way, 3 hour road trip. We'll be careful to take your pit spot, since no one will be able to tell us apart. ;-)

I'm just glad 2502 won't be at this regional; we always have both 2052 and 2502 at 10K and my aging brain can't cope.

I couldn't tell you when but I think I remember one Wisconsin or Midwest regional that had all 3 of 2220, 2022, and 2202.

Imagine 2883, 3883, and 2823 at one regional as well. What a mouthful.

Great competition, everyone! My team won judges' award with only one of us actually there to accept it! :ahh:

What a excellent and competitive regional. 2052 KnightKrawler had a blast up at the DeCC. Our first taste of a Week 1 Regional. Can't wait to view all the match videos.

First things first I want to congratulate 2526 Crimson Robotics, 4818 The Herd, and 93 New Apple Core for winning the 2015 Lake superior regional! You guys had a great alliance! From the moment I saw 4818's reveal video I knew they would be a solid robot to compete with. I am excited for you guys I'm sure you'll make your states proud(MN, ND, and WI. I thought it was unique you guys had 3 robots from 3 different states on your alliance haha)!

Congrats to 1714 for winning the regional chairman's award and 1816 for winning the regional engineering inspiration award. 2052 looks to emulate both of your teams amazing ideals and outreach.

I want to thank our alliance members 2883 FRED and 2472 Centurions. Congrats on being Finalists guys! We had a blast competing with you guys! We are bummed not to have another regional with you guys. Good luck at Wisconsin 2883 and North star 2472!

Thanks to the volunteers, judges, and refs who ensured the regional carried on smoothly. I'll be looking forward to come back to another amazing event next year!

Thanks! Team 2883 had an awesome time as well. We were very happy with how things went. Having you guys for an alliance captain was great.

Our fantastic media team created short and sweet videos to recap each day at lake superior regional!

Day 1 Thursday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eh-MCU3yG9Q

Day 2 Friday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW4afS4i5dQ

Day 3 Saturday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMRcjAM-CtI

Also we have some raw footage of our robot gameplay in one of the elimination matches. We capped a RC on a 6 tote high stack we made in the match which is the highlight of that video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLgEx-DwFfQ

Enjoy the footage that our hard working media team has put up! It only exemplifies how much fun KnightKrawler had at duluth!

Could not have had a better start to my senior season. I'm going to miss this competition the most. Also here is a video through the eyes of the drive team during the last finals match.
