Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
3 Attachment(s)
With the official competition season starting up this week I figured it would be good to give an update to the teams in Missouri.
The Missouri Robotics State Championship will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in Sedalia. The top 32 ranked teams in Missouri will face off in this one day event to crown a state champion alliance. Details of the competition can be found in the attachment below or on the website: www.missouriroboticsstatechampionship.com (under construction). We will be using the 2015 District Ranking System (attached). Here is the breakdown of the Missouri teams for the 2015 season: Total Teams: 69 Veteran Teams: 54 Sophomore Teams: 10 Rookie Teams: 5 One Event Teams: 44 Two Event Teams: 23 Three Event Teams: 2 Missouri Team Events: Arkansas Rock City Regional: 11 Greater Kansas City Regional: 36 St. Louis Regional: 34 Central Illinois Regional: 1 Hub City Regional: 1 Colorado Regional: 3 Buckeye Regional: 1 Oklahoma Regional: 6 Queen City Regional: 3 Most teams will be finished with their two events after week five. We have three teams competing during week six at the Queen City Regional (1986, 1764, & 1985). Since we are ranking based upon the first two events, week six won't effect 1986's ranking. Final rankings could be effected by 1985 and 1764 though. Teams with only one event will have their scores doubled. Cultural award points will not be doubled (Chairman's, etc.) With this in mind we will be able to send out invitations to the top 30 teams after week five. We will have to wait until after week six to finalize the top 32 to see where 1985 and 1764 come in. We will be updating rankings after week 2. If you are interested in helping out/volunteering at this event please contact me or register through the volunteer page on the website. |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
11 of the 69 registered Missouri Teams competed in Arkansas this past weekend and teams were assigned points based on the FRC 2015 district point structure.
District Point Categories Included QRP (Qualifying Round Performance) was based on 54 participating teams at the regional event. ASR (Alliance Selection Results) PRP (Playoff Round Performance) AWD (Judged Team Awards) TA (Team Age) Unlike a true district many Missouri teams will only be competing at 1 regional event. Until a team completes their second event their points (except for RCA, EI, and RAS award points) will be doubled. 1986 -- 110 4330 -- 104 4522 -- 96 3284 -- 88 4256 -- 86 4500 -- 66 1706 -- 61 0931 -- 36 1785 -- 24 4329 -- 22 1939 -- 10 Looking Ahead To Week 3: Missouri Teams will be competing at the Greater Kansas City regional this weekend. With no Missouri teams winning a regional championship through week 2 there is plenty of room at the top for a new points leader. A #1 seed who wins the regional championship and a judged award could post a 146 number. |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
44 out of the 69 Missouri teams have competed at least once. Everybody in
the top 9 is playing at least 2 events this year, and while 4522 has completed their first two, the other 8 still have an event pending. There are also several teams that we will see for the first time in St. Louis next weekend. .... Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Week 4 and the St. Louis Regional are in the books. All but 1 Missouri team (5730 - Week 5, Oklahoma) has completed at least 1 regional. 12 teams still have a 2nd event in week 5 or 6 that may affect their placement.

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
I'm sure I missed this somewhere, but are the rankings based on points accrued at the first two events the rankings used in determining alliance captains or is there some form of qual matches played at the event? I see that there are exhibition matches Saturday morning but those do not affect ranking.
|
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
The rankings are used to determine alliance captains. Teams will come to the event already ranked. We are currently working on getting as many matches in as possible before alliance selections but the exhibition matches will not affect the rankings.
|
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Is there somewhere to look into volunteering for the event? I would consider driving down from school to help.
|
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Cal and any interested volunteers,
We have a contact link on the event website. http://missouriroboticsstatechampionship.com/volunteer/ Send me an email through that link and we will be in touch. We would love to have you help out! |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Corrected List:
Forced the QRP to round up to the next whole integer as specified in the district ranking guide, and included tie-breaks. Only had to go to the 6th level of tie breaks to get a clean list. Also cleaned up two data errors affecting 5326 and 5176. Code:

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Email sent! Looks like it's shaping up to be quite the interesting event.

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
All 69 Missouri Teams have now played at least 1 event. Teams in red (1985 and 1764) will be playing their 2nd event in weeks 6 and could affect the top 32 teams.

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
So far this is shaping up to be an exciting event! The following 22 teams have accepted their invitations:
1806 1986 1723 3284 4522 4256 1775 1987 1825 4154 4500 5479 4959 3528 4329 1706 5013 2164 5098 1939 4809 5730 We are waiting on a few teams that are still working out details. If teams decline we are moving down the list to invite others. |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Approximately two more weeks until this great new event. The excitement is building.
Have any more teams accepted? |

We will have a standard playoff tournament made up of three team alliances. We will have a couple of backup robots. We are looking forward to seeing everyone soon! |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
What time on Saturday are we starting? I have cousins in Otterville wanting to bring the kids up to watch. Your home page does not have information on times.
|
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Doors open at 7:30 and matches begin at 9:30. Exhibition matches will go to 12:30. Playoffs are from 2:00 - 5:00.
We are sending out the team update and final schedule tomorrow. We have been having problems with the website which is why it hasn't been updated. |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Can alliance captains pick from within the top 8?
I saw something at one point where we could not. I do see on the website that we are using normal competition rules, which indicates we can pick from within the top 8. |

I have attached the team update that we sent out to teams today.
We are in the process of updating the website and it should be finished by this weekend. We apologize again for the delay. Yes, teams can pick each other in the top 8. The Playoff Tournament will be run like a normal event except that the exhibition matches will not count towards rankings. The rankings are already set from the points that teams earned during their competition season. Here are the teams again ranked in order: 1 1730 Team Driven 2 1806 S.W.A.T. 3 1986 Team Titanium 4 1723 The FBI- FIRST Bots of Independence 5 3284 Camdenton 4H LASER Team 6 4522 Team SCREAM 7 4256 Cyborg Cats 8 1775 Tigerbytes 9 1987 Broncobots 10 1825 The Cyborgs 11 4154 Perpetual Recursion 12 4500 Robohounds 13 5479 CafeBot 14 4959 Millennium Falcolns 15 3528 Up Next 16 5326 Optimus PRIN 17 4329 Lutheran Roboteers 18 1706 Ratchet Rockers 19 5013 Trobots 20 2164 Team 2164 The Corps 21 5098 STING-R 22 1939 THE KUHNIGITS 23 5758 UF C-BOTS 24 4809 Black Knight Robotics 25 5730 The Professionals 26 2357 System Meltdown 27 1178 DuRT |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Will you have a webcast feed going for people who want to watch, but cannot attend?
|
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
We will have a webcast available. Team 4329 Lutheran Roboteers are handling this. When we have the link and details we will post it to this page and the website.

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Hi Everyone,
Here is a link to a spreadsheet that teams can fill out so that we can all do some pre-event scouting. Please take a moment to fill out the details for your team. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EN66kZtGJWrEQ1g2jbBj8tRB0KQ5kdkbhr8QTuwHZ5Q/edit?usp=sharing Hope this is helpful to everyone and we look forward to seeing everyone next weekend. |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
I am looking forward to fun on Saturday. It will be great seeing everyone again. This is like a family reunion. Once you are in robotics, you have increased the size of your extended family. We have a blast being around each other.

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
We will work this week to have a link to the webcast and post it in this thread.
4329 is very excited to compete again this weekend, here are some highlights from our run at Champs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJoM9yETJNA |

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Thank you to TEAM SCREAM for hosting this event. It was great watching all the robots from Missouri that were in attendance. It was great to see three of the four Lee's Summit teams in the finals. I was proud of all the students. We had a wonderful time and looking forward to next year.

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
I had a great time at this event, but I was wondering, will the result from this event show up on the Blue Alliance? I wanted to look at some statistics from the tournament.
|
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Many thanks to 3284 and 2357 for being great alliance partners in the QFs. 4329, The Lutheran Roboteers, had a great time at this inaugural event and can't wait till next year. See you all at the MO State Fair demos in August, GRC in Sept, and CTTD in Oct. Have a great summer!
|
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Thank you for making this event possible. I could not attend but the team went down and had some fun. Also great that MO has some awesome FRC teams. Finally I saw that we were in a pretty sweet tug-of-war (even though we lost it)
Thanks again Team Scream and any others who made this possible!! |

A big thanks to 4522 for putting on an incredible event! We had a blast playing with all the other awesome Missouri teams and hope to be back next year. |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Missouri now boasts 3 offseason events spread across the state: Cow Town ThrowDown (KC Side), Gateway Robotics Challenge (St. Louis Side), and now the Missouri State Championship (Middle-ish Sedalia). This weekend's event was fantastic. The attention to detail, quality of the volunteers, food prices, webcast, and level of competition all made it a very enjoyable event. Having it in just one day also made it easier for us to attend. Thank you Team Scream (FRC 4522) for hosting. You guys put the Pro in Gracious Professionalism.
Oddly enough we, Team Titanium (FRC 1986), haven't played with Team Driven (FRC 1730) in an elimination alliance since before we won our first regional (KC 2010). It was an honor to be selected to join your alliance and thrilled that we could work with FRC 5326 to help bring home the inaugural Missouri State Championship. Fitting that the #1 seed from KC and the #1 seed from St. Louis join forces for the Blue Banner. Wanted to give a shout-out to 1987 and 1723. I was blown away when I first saw 1987 reveal their robot. 1723 was the perfect capper for them and kept iterating their canburglers all season. Together they were a real force and a pleasure to watch. Congrats on making the finals with "rookie" sensation 5730. The 1806, 4522, 5098 alliance put up the highest QF scores and looked both consistent and dominant. Even after a devastating first SF match they put up a 2nd SF score that put them on pace to still make the finals. We did all the noodle pushing we could in the last SF to make sure we didn't have to face this alliance in the finals. You all have earned our deepest respect. |
Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
Congratulations to Team Driven, Team Titanium, and Optimus PRIN on winning the first-ever Missouri Robotics State Championship!

Re: Missouri Robotics State Championship 2015
You can find all of the 2015 MRSC match videos uploaded now to this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...nlv0ivSHgvBB9J
If someone knows how to manually input score data into the blue alliance I'd happily take the time to provide that data so we can link these videos there as well. Right now it's just empty - http://www.thebluealliance.com/event/2015mosc I'll also work on getting alliance selection and awards videos edited and uploaded. |
A big shout-out to 1806, IRI champs. Not getting to the finals and possibly winning at the MO state champs was a fluke. WINNING IRI is special and it is great to see MO represented so well, including 1730 who were number 1 seed and semi finalists.
Congratulations! |
