Variable pressure

Does anyone know a way to change the working pressure programmatically? My team's robot lifts with pneumatics, and it would be nice to not have to use full pressure when only lifting one tote, but have it available for the 6 tote lift.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Team 488 used a variable pressure setup to do some catapulting in 2012

We did it this way one year: On-the-Fly Adjustable Pressure

Thanks! Do you happen to know what kind of pressure sensor to use or where to find a similar one?

We used a similar transducer in 2013 just to see where our air pressure was at. Remember, all pneumatic components need to be rated to 120psi.

Re: Variable pressure

If you have a sensor on your lift, you don't really need to use as much air for the light lift - when enough air pressure is in the piston to lift the load to the desired point (or when it's moving at the desired speed), just shut it off. When lifting one tote it might be 13psi and for six it might be 60psi. Much simpler physically and programmatically. You will need to use a 3-position "closed center" valve. They are available here, among other places.
