Alamo Regional 2015

Alamo is a week 3 event with a handful of non-Texas teams in attendance.

I believe this is the 1st Texas event for most of these teams.
233 - Pink Team (FL)
1726 - NERDS (AZ)
1868 - Space Cookies (CA)
2415 - WiredCats (GA) - visited Texas many times, almost a Texas regular team.
3314 - Mechanical Mustangs (NJ)
3961 - MBA Execs (TN)
4721 - Tiger Bots (TN)
4989 - Jaguars (TN)

The usual Texas powerhouse teams are mysteriously absent from Alamo this year so new faces should appear in the finals.

Team List from TBA.

We're looking forward to it! There should be several teams that already played at Dallas, too.

But first, for me, a little detour to Central Vally (California)....

1296 is looking forward to some good food on the river walk and more fun with robots! I think a lot of TX teams are missing because this is spring break for many school districts.

Had a little birdie tell me that a team is going to have a tribute to our beloved kickoff friend Dozer in their pit.

Team 1868 is excited for our first regional of this year, our first Texas regional ever, and our first non-California regional since 2007. We're looking forward to seeing all the teams there!

I just saw 3999 running a little while ago on what appeared to be a 6-wheel mecanum drive. I am now curious to know if I actually saw this, and if so, why they decided on a 6-wheel mecanum drive. It seems at odds with an awful lot of drivetrain kinematics.

Just checked. 6 wheel omni.

We have an H-drive with 4" omnis. We chose six along the side to get clarence for the bump, and 4" because we had them from last year's robot.

Okay, that makes a lot more sense. I clearly wasn't looking close enough to tell the difference between omnis and mecanums. In my defense, I was at work and all that.

1296 has come a long way since Dallas , ranked #1 with zero co-op points and the most litter points!

Looking forward to the Alamo elims

Interestingly, we exclusively noodle cans, no throwing from us. And it was pure luck (or lack thereof) that no co-op stacks were generated by our alliance. (Our tether can't reach that far!)

Thanks a lot! We worked really hard moving and upgrading our can mecanism from the "stacker" to the "jacker" and finally got our act together. We are happy to finally be on an alliance with 2468. We've wanted to for years but never had a chance until today.

This was a really fun regional! Great friendly people, plenty of action, and a good venue.

Big congrats to 5572 for RAS, and thanks for helping us make it to the Semi finals!

It was fun watching 1296 get their fantastic scoring machine working as the weekend progressed. We pretty much knew that they would be unstoppable if they teamed up with 2468, and that's what happened. Congrats on a well deserved win, along with 2415.

And Space Cookies for Chairmans...and 3103 for Engineering Inspiration...way to go!

3103 for EI again? We're going to have to start calling it the Plaid Inspiration award here in Texas pretty soon. EI wins in 2011, 12, 14, and 15 is a pretty impressive streak.

We had a lot of fun at Alamo this year, as always, we would like to give a big thank you to all of the volunteers and staff at the event, as well as all of the old friends and a few new friends for sharing in the great time that we had.

Oh, and at TRR, #TrashBagOfLitter will have its revenge!

Good luck to all the teams going on to champs and other competitions this year!
