We've had a great time at the Alamo, and enjoyed meeting all the teams there!

Thank you to all the volunteers at the Alamo regional, especially the inspectors who were very friendly when we had to keep reinspecting after each match (at one point), and let us weigh our totes on their scale when we were packing up.

Thank you to 3103, Iron Plaid, and 2881, Lady Cans, for selecting us despite our ranking. It was great working with you in the first alliance of three all girls teams that we've been on! Congratulations on your Engineering Inspiration and Imagery awards, and good luck to both of you at Lone Star.

Congratulations to teams 1296, 2468, and 2415. It was incredible watching your alliance with 1296's tethered robot, 2468's swerve drive, and 2415's step container grabber, and seeing how many points you could get together.

Another great experience at the Alamo.. . shout out to the volunteers, refs and inspectors - this is how it should be done! It was great working with Coach Norm and 2468 and new friends from 2415. So get this - I went to go get the trailer and 1296/2468/2415 had parked next to each other on Thursday. The #1 alliance was destiny!

Congratulations to 233/1817/2158, that first 2-point match almost stopped my heart. You guys built and fielded some beautiful machines.

One again FRC Team 4063 had a great time at a the Alamo Regional. Although we didn't take home a blue banner, we did take home the Creativity Award and our 4th consecutive Gracious Professionalism Award at the the Alamo Regional. We are very proud of the way our robot performed, but I am even more proud of the way our team performed. As we always say, FIRST is much more than just building robots.

Congratulations to all and we look forward to seeing many of y'all in Lubbock.

Mr. B

Team #3103 (Iron Plaid) had a wonderful time being on an alliance with teams #1868 (Space Cookies) and #2881 (Lady Cans)! We are so glad that you were able to come down to Texas for the Alamo regional and definitely enjoyed working with you. Congratulations on your Chairman's award!! We look forward to seeing you in St. Louis.

Alamo Regional was a great tournament. It was great to see the number of teams who were honored to have been there for all five years of the event. We also missed some of the traditional teams that have attended in the past years.

It was great to meet new teams who came to Alamo for the first time and play with old friends and foes.

Thanks to FRC 1296 for believing in us as their first pick for alliance selections. It was great being alliance partners with Full Metal Jackets and FRC 2415 WiredCats. 1296 was such a great a alliance captain and made stacks on stacks. WiredCats made modifications to their robot for Can Burglaring and provided extras cans every match for our alliance to use.

Congrats to Space Cookies FRC 1868 for their Chairman's Award. It was no doubt they are changing culture in their area. In addition, as Kevin says, congrats to the Iron Plaid Award Winners (FRC 3103 wins Engineering Inspiration Award Winners), for those that do not know Iron Plaid has won this award 4 times in 7 years.

We might also need to rename the Gracious Professionalism to The Bunnies Award as they continue to build their legacy by taking home their 5TH Gracious Professionalism award in 4 years of of existence.

It was also great to see the all girls alliance team of FRC 3103 - Iron Plaid, FRC 2881 - Lady Cans and FRC 1868 in the eliminations. How many times in FIRST history has their been an all girls alliance competing on the field? Their spirit and enthusiasm and not to mention strategy was very exciting to enjoy and witness.

Alamo regional also hosted all four levels of FIRST Robotics Contest under one roof over four days. It was a packed house but great to see all the other contests in the same building.

In closing, Fred Stong was awesome as head referee. Kids loved his attitude and presence he presented before each match. He was consistent throughout the day and communicated to the teams what his expectations were. The referees and volunteers at Alamo providing an atmosphere that was great for the kids and teams.

I'm not super in the know on this, and I could be wrong, but from what I do know I wouldn't expect to see either the livestream or matches.

I have been to 5 regionals over the years and I can say Fred is the best referee I have come across in FRC. "Fred's World" as he calls it must be a great planet to live on. The Alamo regional this year was so much fun and the best event I have been to so far.

Re: Alamo Regional 2015

Something I found interesting while watching the Alamo Elims was the 231, 1255, and 457 alliance.

I'm sure everyone been a part of (or at least seen) a team that wasn't ranked in a position where their performance should have placed them (in either direction). Not knocking on 231 by any means - I'm sure their robot will be working much better at Lonestar and they were working hard all weekend - but they were still struggling during elims. But they did a heck of a job creating an alliance that could compete. Blarglefish did a fantastic job stacking totes and the Grease Monkeys capitalized by capping them. It was an alliance capable of breaking 100 points. It's a shame they were never able to take advantage of 1255's solid autonomous pulling totes and containers into the autozone with them.

Great job by all 3 teams to get an 8th seed alliance into the semifinals! Scouting is important, and I think it goes to show that you can still do really well with a team that focuses on doing one thing well in this game.

I have had communications with Jess from Alamo Regional regarding match videos. She said they have the matches recorded but it will be a while before they are posted for viewing.
